I heard a radio interview yesterday with a man whose teenage daughter identifies as male. He said she has always been that way, but only began to talk about it when she began to mature. The changes her body went through didn’t match up with the image of her body she had in her mind. When her breasts began to develop, she was convinced they were tumors. How did she spend her whole life growing up around women and not know what breasts were? I guess she is so convinced she is male that the only way she could have breasts is if something were wrong with her.

The father says she is going to get the sex change. I thought, Pal, your daughter is insane and and the help you are getting her isn’t helping.

How is this situation any different from a person who “identifies” as blind or as an amputee and mutilates his eyes or limbs in order to make his body match what is in his mind?

Very true. Your post made me wonder, where would the father go to GET the help his daughter needs? Seems to me like it would have to be outside of the medical field...would doctors say no? COULD they say no?
