WASHINGTON — More than 20 major cities, including Chicago, Dallas, Las Vegas and Los Angeles, have seen large increases in murders in recent months, a spike that the director of the F.B.I. linked to less aggressive policing stemming from a “viral video effect.”
The new data released Friday showed clashing trend lines across the country, with many cities seeing a sharp increase in murders while rates in others — including New York and Miami — were down significantly from last year.
After receiving an advance look at the data, the F.B.I. director, James B. Comey Jr., expressed alarm Wednesday about the spike in murders in some major cities. Reigniting the debate over a “Ferguson effect,” he told reporters that he believed the trend could be linked to a “viral video effect” because officers were being less aggressive for fear of ending up on videos.
The White House distanced itself from Mr. Comey on the issue, named after Ferguson, Mo., where the 2014 shooting of an unarmed black man set off protests and rioting.
Josh Earnest, the White House spokesman, told reporters Thursday that “there still is no evidence to substantiate the claim that the increase in violent crime is related to an unwillingness of police officers to do their job.”
Mr. Earnest said the president saw a false choice in any notion that police officers must decide between fighting crime and doing so in a fair way.
“The truth is the vast majority of police officers do both,” Mr. Earnest said.

We won massively in the State houses, stopping more gun control legislantion, restoring the right to bear arms in several states. Just this year three more states have gone permitless or “constitutional” carry.
We regained control of the House and the Senate, and at least stopped some really bad bills,even if the legislature did not have he guts to fight Obama and the media. We also learned who the traitors are in the Republican leadership.
Wonder if Comey is testing the waters on going rogue when the Hillary investigation is done and DOJ tries to sit on it?
We won massively? What did they go from 22,000 gun laws to 20,000? This is what you consider a massive win? Are we not supposed have a, "Shall not be infringed, 2nd Amendment"? I am supposed to be thankful to these lawyer politicians for these so called "Massive GOP wins"?
I don't recall winning anything and I can assure you they did *nothing* for Middle America who've became the results of their destructive anti-American country killing policies.
Those projections are unrealistic; from the birthrate stats today the US will have a white minority around 2020...

The black population is expected to increase from 41.2 million to 61.8 million over the same period. Its share of the total population would rise slightly, from 13.1 percent in 2012 to 14.7 percent in 2060.
The Asian population is projected to more than double, from 15.9 million in 2012 to 34.4 million in 2060, with its share of nation's total population climbing from 5.1 percent to 8.2 percent in the same period.
Among the remaining race groups, American Indians and Alaska Natives would increase by more than half from now to 2060, from 3.9 million to 6.3 million, with their share of the total population edging up from 1.2 percent to 1.5 percent. The Native Hawaiian and Other Pacific Islander population is expected to nearly double, from 706,000 to 1.4 million. The number of people who identify themselves as being of two or more races is projected to more than triple, from 7.5 million to 26.7 million over the same period.
The U.S. is projected to become a majority-minority nation for the first time in 2043. While the non-Hispanic white population will remain the largest single group, no group will make up a majority.
I do; when I started my family over a dozen years ago my first child was born in a hospital in a “white” area in northeastern NJ. Out of about 20 babies in the maternity ward, there were two white and black babies apiece, one Asian (Oriental) baby, and 15 Hispanic babies.
The census figures the government is throwing out there are probably from 1970; anyone with eyes can see in maternity wards, playgrounds, and classrooms that this tipping point is arriving much faster. They want to prevent a panic until it is too late; many Americans supporting Trump are probably seeing the same thing I do with my lying eyes.
I believe both my home state of NJ and neighboring NY were among the states that had foreign-born populations not of 15% or more, but 25%! Anchor babies aren’t just from south of the border, either; there are many Asian ones as well.
The county to the north of me (Bergen County NJ, which has consistently been rated as one of the wealthier in the country) has just added a third language to all government business (election ballots and such); they are now in English, Spanish, and KOREAN.
Anecdotal information is meaningless. However, according to the Census Bureau, by 2019 half of the children 18 and under will be minorities.
According to the census propaganda, Hispanics were going to pass blacks in numbers by 2010 - and shortly after the 2000 census they admitted it had ALREADY HAPPENED. The same census was using the year 2060 for a non-white majority ten years ago, and two years ago had bumped it up to 2050. Now they’re at 2043? By 2019 the 90% of the babies born with my first one will be voters.
The census can’t factor in a couple of important issues: The precipitous drop in the white birth rate (which has no reason to turn around, and can drop even further), and the massive trafficking of minorities across our border every single minute. A couple of years ago a story ran proclaiming that more whites were dying every day than being born; how long can that be sustained?
New Jersey seems to be seriously understating the numbers (which I assume don’t include illegals); while towns (formerly white OR black) are completely Hispanic now, with no English signs left on businesses, billboards, etc.

I decided long ago that the Republican party serves mainly as a foil for the dimmycrats. They pretend to be an opposition party so the dims have someone to blame for all their own failings.
Well, I suppose everyone had to learn somehow. How many blacks will be murdered by other blacks before they understand the importance of police? There is a point where they will learn that and it looks like reality will be a harsh teacher.
Right, the media hopes to take the white working class by surprise so it can further grind it into the dust. It simply cannot tolerate anything that independently promotes stability or progress.
Non-Hispanic whites have been procreating below replacement levels, 2.1, for some time now. But so are blacks and Asians. And the fertility rates for Hispanics are also declining. This is not unique to the US. Fertility rates for the developed world have been declining.
The current fertility rate for the US is 1.87, making us 142nd in the world.
As I have said before, immigration accounts for 80% of our population growth.
