Interesting take on the election by Ms. Peek. She was interviewed on our local station this morning. At the link is a video of the Anti Goldwater ad from '64.

[snip] Liz Peek was one of the first women on Wall Street to earn that most hallowed of titles --Partner. After graduating with an Honors Degree in Economics and as a Durant Scholar from Wellesley College, she joined a research boutique on Wall Street where she developed an improbable expertise in backhoes, mining equipment, oilfield wireline services and drilling fluids. She became a CFA and in 1975 she moved to Wertheim & Company, a leading equities house which subsequently was bought by Schroder, Inc. and then by Citigroup. During almost two decades with the firm, Liz became a top-ranked analyst covering oilfield services companies, co-head of investment research and head of the firm’s international research department. ....In recent years Liz has been a columnist with The Fiscal Times and FoxNews.com. For several years she was the business columnist for The New York Sun; she has also written for The Huffington Post, The Motley Fool and published a weekly column on Women on the Web (wowOwow.) She has also contributed articles to Trends, a business periodical in the Middle East, Avenue and The New York Observer. Trump isn’t Goldwater.

Goldwater wrote the book on how to be the designated loser.

Here’s why Hillary Loses:

1) Obama recession and she represents a continuation of Obama
2) People are saying they are mad at Government and she represents a government insider
3) She is crooked and untrustworthy
4) No accomplishments, no passion,
5) She has never been challenged and she is going to get one heck of an ongoing direct challenge from Trump.

she had very little authority or even influence in foreign affairs.

If that is true then wouldn’t all those donations (bribes) to the Clinton Fraudation from foreign entities have been wasted?

Not a chance.

Hillary lives in a 100% glass house. She’s too vulnerable, and Trump will not pull any punches - you can be sure of that.

There’s only one way for her to win - she has to run on “I’m a woman and it’s time for a woman!” I can just hear that screeching voice now...

That is, she will scare the bejeezus out of Americans by describing Trump as a “loose cannon,” someone who cannot be trusted with America’s nuclear arsenal.

Yeah, that will work great.

The only president to ever drop a nuclear bomb was a Democrat. He dropped two of them.

The 64’election was a sympathy vote for Kennedy. To show how bad a candidate lbj was he did not even run in 68 after all of the “legislative success” he’d had.

by describing Trump as a “loose cannon,”

Ha good luck wid dat

Loose Cannon indeed, and perhaps a good attribute

At the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 Admiral Lord Nelson devised a tactical device that enabled him with only 27 ships (and smaller) to defeat the 33 larger ships of the Spanish Armada.

As well as his ships being more maneuverable...his cannons, being smaller were more easily aimed for best effect.

Hillary will lose.

The scenario that worries me is, she’s indicted or drops our for health reasons and Biden-Warren is put up in her place, pulling the D party together including the Bernie wing.

However, Trump would have a heyday with those two!

Hillary has the DNC, RNC, media, and a vast international corruption machine on her side, along with felons in VA (and other states), the permanent Dependent Class, the True Believers, the multitudes of women who want to "make a historic vote", the dead vote, the black vote (although not as much as Obama did, of course), the illegal immigrants voting, the urban districts that constantly produce more than 100% voter turnout (in areas where free food and free smoke detectors get only 1% turnout, ahem), those districts reporting late (as soon as the counters know exactly how many votes need to be manufactured), and she has the political veterans who have been doing this for decades.

This will NOT be an easy election to win... and Trump's loose cannon mouth is by far the biggest obstacle to overcome before he can even start taking on those juggernauts. We have a long way to go and a short time to get there, and recognizing that the candidate himself has some huge issues to deal with first is priority one, and yet many here still cannot muster the intellectual honesty required to make this small, important, and obvious admission.

The ole gal doesn't have much to run on. If she isn't playing the woman card, she is playing the victim card. Then, she tries to straddle the woman-victim issue.

She is also dusting off the old playbook. Desperate times call for desperate measures: Ye ole Vast Right Wing Conspiracy.

I’m starting to believe Trump will be the next President. Out job as conservatives is to influence him in any way possible towards small gov’t free market positions.

If the best Hillary can do is go back in time 52 years in an attempt to dredge up some supposed conservative bugaboo to use against Trump, she doesn’t stand a chance. For anybody not already old enough to collect social security a mention of Barry Goldwater is going elicit a response of, “Huh? Who is that? Was he in a band?” Not to mention that in 1964 the nation was in the hottest part of the Cold War with nuclear war a real threat, today the mention of nuclear war gets little more than a yawn or shrug...

I think Hilary will be out of the running, and sooner rather than later. (When’s their convention?). I think the Dems will run Biden + Faucahontas as the ‘sane grown-ups.’ They’ve been keeping the lid on Biden so no one will remember the idiotic things he has said. The Dems will be thrilled to have someone to vote for who looks ‘normal’ and Obama will be thrilled to have a puppet in the office for another 8.

Hillary Clinton got her start in politics as a “Goldwater Girl” in 1964.

Ironic, ain’t it?

I actually remember the “daisy” ad. I had just turned 5. It aired on a Sunday night (as I recall) and I never saw it again. But I clearly remember seeing it. An astonishing thing, the human mind.

Hillary's resume' includes her stint as a "Goldwater Girl" when she was raised in white-bread Chicago suburbs in the 1960's, and then as a third-tier assistant attorney, up close and personal, during the WaterGate hearings figuring out how to deny Richard Nixon his Constitutional rights while lying about it.

She is old, old-school, and uses old ideas and tactics. No one has ever faced the likes of a Donald Trump who has rendered all traditional campaigning and "political logic" moot. She will have no clue what hit her. Trump will have to tell her to "put some ice on that" when he's done.

I am so sick of the non-GOPe candidate X as Goldwater meme. Goldwater, Bob Water, Tom Water, whoever Water was losing that election in 1964. Who the hell was going to beat the ghost of a martyred President!?! Who was going to beat that ghost and one of the dirtiest bastards in American political history?

If anything, it is Trump as Johnson in this one. This guy is going to go for the jugular each and every time it is exposed.
