Note - I added a comma to the title. It was a town named West, not somewhere in west Texas.

fertilizer plant explosion in April 2013

Three plus years ago; they must be using the VA appointment system for their investigation scheduling.

Thanks, I didn’t notice the comma for a few and kept thinking that it didn’t happen in West Texas. Seems a lot of happy news back then was it was the company’s fault and that was proof we need more regulation. The regulators will ignore this news.

The Ceches and Slovaks that live down there are big hearted people but if you cross them there’s no place on this Earth that you’ll be safe.

You ain’t kidding. I remember reading some time back about when Muslims kidnapped a group of different people, the Russian government grabbed one of theirs and started sending him back...in pieces. Three guesses which one of the captives got returned ASAP with not so much as a hair on his head singed.

Locally, some stupid monkey liked to play profane noise from his ghettoblaster at all hours and the cops were busy with a million other worse crimes until a relative visited some mountain of a Chech emigrant and the ‘music’ woke up their little daughter. Someone walking their dog found him semi-conscious in a bush the next morning with his boombox looking like a steamroller ran over it.

I left a box of expensive imported Russian tea at his door with an unsigned thank-you note.

With the extent of the destruction, it must have been difficult to make the intentional fire determination. Understandable that it took a long time but “years”?? Plus if there is no idea who did it, that’s also odd. I still feel for the towns people. So many of the best citizens dead.

No, it was a local who was stealing chemicals to make meth. He couldn’t get the valve closed or something and fled. And the world knew it a few days after.

The feds now think so too. 3 years later.

“According to one 2002 crime report, a plant manager told police that intruders were stealing four to five gallons of anhydrous ammonia every three days. The liquid gas can be used to cook methamphetamine, the addictive and illicit stimulant.”
