By adding to an already challenging legal environment in North Carolina, HB2 could cost the state almost $5 billion a year, according to a new report by the Williams Institute at UCLA School of Law.

"The repeal of HB2 would not only reverse the threat to over $5 billion in economic activity for the state, but would also begin to bring North Carolina some of the economic advantages that come when a state embraces diversity and its LGBT citizens," said Christy Mallory, Senior Counsel at the Williams Institute and co-author of the new report.

While prior reports have focused on the potential loss in federal funding to the state, this report examines 9 other harmful economic impacts resulting from HB2....

What?

Trannies constitute what percentage of the population again?

Do they ALL live in the Raleigh-Durham area?

Can anyone name some of the economic advantages that come when a state embraces diversity and its LGBT citizens???

I’ve heard this before, but nobody ever gives an example. For example, are huge numbers of transgender people small business owners, who are eager to move their business to a homosexual friendly state???

For a tiny percentage of the population, it seems hard to quantify this alleged economic impact of allowing men in the ladies room.

So I guess we should all compromise our principals for some amount of money? Reminds me of the old joke:

Churchill: Madam, would you sleep with me for five million pounds?

Socialite: My goodness, Mr. Churchill… Well, I suppose… we would have to discuss terms, of course…

Churchill: Would you sleep with me for five pounds?

Socialite: Mr. Churchill, what kind of woman do you think I am?!

Churchill: Madam, we’ve already established that. Now we are haggling about the price.

Poppycock, pure unadulterated BS. North Carolina will see a HUGE Jump in economic activity if they would JUST FOLLOW THEIR OWN LAWS currently on the books.:

The right thing to do is simple, FILE CRIMINAL CHARGES AGAINST THESE DOJ LAWYERS, let them defend their actions in front of a JURY. FEDERAL EMPLOYEES are NOT EXEMPT FROM STATE LAWS regarding Criminal Activity.

Extortion
Elements

A person is guilty if they:

Threaten or communicate a threat to another
With the intent to obtain wrongfully
Anything of value, any acquittance, any advantage, or any immunity

This offense not only applies to the person that makes the threat, but also to any person who may have communicated the threat. A defendant can be guilty of extortion even if they do not obtain any of the things of which they wanted.
Punishment

If a person is guilty of extortion, they are guilty of a Class F felony under N.C. Gen. Stat. § 14-118.4.
Blackmailing

Blackmail is broken down into two separate offenses, demanding valuables without reasonable cause and accusing of a crime to extort valuables. These offenses each have their own elements and punishments.
Demanding Valuables without Reasonable Cause
Elements

A person is guilty if they:

Knowingly
Send or deliver any letter or writing
Demanding a chattel, money, or valuable security
With menaces and
Without reasonable or probable cause

Punishment

If a person is guilty of demanding valuables without reasonable cause, they are guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor under N.C. Gen. Stat. § 14-118.
Accusing of a Crime to Extort Valuables
Elements

A person is guilty if they:

Accuse or threaten to accuse another person of a crime punishable by death or imprisonment in the state prison
With intent to extort or gain from the person a chattel, money, or valuable security

Punishment

If a person is guilty of accusing of a crime to extort valuables, they are guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor under N.C. Gen. Stat. § 14-118.

The article spells it out but the bulk of economic activity is this:
1. Loss of Federal Funding – $4.8 billion in federal grants and contracts, primarily from the loss of $4.7 billion in funding for public schools, colleges, and universities.

Anyone remember the huge support Chick-fil-A got when they were being persecuted by the Gay Nazis? There are millions of Americans who would give anything to move their families to a God-fearing, traditional community. No one talks about the thousands of businesses who will be attracted to NC because of traditional values practiced there. Good for Gov McRory for standing up to the Feds. NC just won it’s Voter ID case. It should win this one as well, and beat back this insanity.

The strange part is that NC people are the friendliest people I’ve ever lived with anywhere. Hard to see them labeled as haters.
