I just reread your post. I wouldn’t count that experience as Romney wanting to lose.
The idea of campaigning is to spend your time and money wisely. Get the most voters in the shortest amount of time. Target republican precincts and drum up that vote.
Know when to cut your losses. Not waste as much time in areas with a very low return. Plus, they want to protect their staff and volunteers from rat-abuse, it can be demoralizing. It’s depressing to call 100 voters and get disconnected or cursed out 85/100.
Cleveland and West Virginia’s populations of potential swing voters is very different. However, rural Ohio and WV would not be so different.
Trump appeals to blue collar workers, regardless of how they are registered or not registered. He will be successful in a broader geographical range.
They had workers such as myself who were willing to do some outreach. Fact is, the regular staff's noses were up in the air. How bad were they? The women were prone to praise Cindy McCain and show disdain for Sara Palin.
Romney could've, if he weren't a globalist who has nothing but disdain for the voting fodder.
Then you should have proceeded to make the calls.
Who is the “they” you refer to? GOP staff or volunteers?
GOP should have had that info. available. Sometimes they are just paid lazy staffers and are not really vested in the outcome of the race.
The problem was the paid local GOP staff. But they claimed they didn’t have the data that was missing, that these were the targeted areas to call. We were calling folks who would never vote for Obama under any circumstances, anyway.
I’m voting against her.
