I can’t believe that meme is still echoing around conservative cyberspace, when there’s no objective evidence to back it up.
Ted Cruz has done exactly one thing to even remotely earn the title, ‘consistent conservative’, and that was his filibuster against Obamacare. In retrospect, knowing everything we know about Ted now, it looks more like a grandstanding act to establish his conservative bona fides in preparation for running for higher office.

That’s indeed what it looks like.
I admittedly have my doubts about Cruz’s bona fides now, but if you look back all the way to his time as Texas Solicitor General from 2003 to 2008, you’ll find that he has consistently pursued direct and indirect involvement in legal issues from a constitutional perspective. You and I may not think he’s presidential material, but we can’t take that away from him.
