There are several reasons ALL losing candidates "suspend" instead of end their campaigns instead of terminating them, and we still need Cruz around at the convention to keep Trump from lurching leftward, as most primary winners tend to do.

Ted Cruz’s political future is predicated on Trump losing the general election. If we see a President Trump and he makes headway with his agenda, then Ted Cruz, along with Marco Rubio, will become an afterthought.
