Confronted with the bloodiest weekend in Chicago since being named police superintendent six weeks ago, Eddie Johnson on Monday called the gun violence "completely unacceptable" and said the dozens of shootings highlight "the uphill battle" confronting police.
More than 50 people were shot, eight fatally, between Friday afternoon and early Monday, the city's most violent weekend since the end of September, according to a Tribune analysis.
The tally included a 3 1/2-hour period early Saturday when one man was killed and 14 others were wounded — the equivalent of someone being shot every 14 minutes.
Chicago is already closing in on 200 homicides as the city endures its worst violence since the late 1990s. At this rate, the city is on pace to top 500 homicides for the year for only the second time since 2008.

Chicago does not have a gun problem, they have a people problem.
Of course the “leaders” (??) of Chicago will never take action to identify the problem, it does not fit their agenda.

In fact they are worse than useless: They are propaganda.
It's not "gun crime". It is black crime, and the solution to black criminality is not to take away the guns of law abiding white people. Unless you are a leftist and your overarching goal is to disarm the law abiding white people.
Is there anyone who does not see this dynamic? It's obvious.

Over the years, I have watched a century’s worth of films that depicted Vigilantes and Vigilance groups as evil and despicable. History says different. The Vigilance groups made those frontier towns and territories places they could safely bring their families.
Until the citizens of Chicago rise up and take back their town, the Bosses can change the POlice chief and the head of the sanitation department all they want and nothing will change.
If you don’t accept something, does that mean it didn’t happen?
“Completely unacceptable”. I think not as that phrase keeps coming up when these situations arise. “Mostly acceptable” should be the phrase of the day.

No, their “progressive” victim disarmament policy is PERFECTLY acceptable, otherwise they would have changed it decades ago.
Yet they continue to accept it. Day after day, week after week, year after year.
Can’t happen. Guns are illegal in Chicago.
What will they do about it? Certainly not the right thing.
At least someone in Chicago gets it.
