Our Presidents have met with leaders from many countries that we have had issues with either the country or the leader. Meeting with someone does not mean you agree with them, or will agree with what they have to say.
I think Trump extending an invitation to the mayor of London was fine, I think it is even better that the mayor chose to respond this way. Who looks more like a leader?

I guess nothing will ever be accomplished or improved in resolving terrorism if we literally close ourselves off entirely! President Trump will need to leave all avenues of communication open in order to discover what must be done to change attitudes in the Muslim world.

I grew up with Presidents meeting regularly with the leaders of the Soviet Union. It seemed like a waste of time, if anything much was accomplished it wasn’t really made public.
Until Reagan began to meet with Gorbachev...
