Senator Ted Cruz’s supporters are mounting an effort to seize control of the Republican platform and the rules governing the party’s July convention, the first indication that Mr. Cruz will not simply hand his delegates over to Donald J. Trump.
In an email sent Sunday to pro-Cruz convention delegates, a top aide to the Texas senator wrote that it was “still possible to advance a conservative agenda at the convention.”
“To do that, it is imperative that we fill the Rules and Platform Committees with strong conservative voices like yours,” wrote Ken Cuccinelli, who was the campaign’s former delegate wrangler and a former attorney general of Virginia. “That means you need to come to the national convention and support others in coming, too!”
Mr. Cruz is planning a Monday evening conference call where, as Mr. Cuccinelli writes, Mr. Cruz’s former officials plan to “discuss what we can do at the convention to protect against liberal changes to our platform, and how we can right the wrongs in the rules from 2012!”

Trump has a well defined platform and he’s running on it. Cruz had and will have no input into that platform (though he borrowed heavily from it). Cruz wants control at the convention in order to hurt Trump. Of course his followers will buy the smokescreen; their ability to critically evaluate anything Cruz says is nonexistent.

Of course they are. The know how much their candidate is hated but they don’t care. They want to keep their pig Cruz at the DC trough at all costs.
Don’t waste your breath around these parts it is a futile effort. I will vote Trump but I do like Cruz as well. It doesn’t matter one iota that Cruz was the champion and anti establishment person long before Donald found the R next to his name making the millions off the same shenanigans he rails against. But hey the “I know the game because I played it” schtick worked. We cheered him relentlessly one filibuster to the next but one day all that changed. One day someone else came into the mix that never railed against these things until it was popular to do so. And in one magic wave of a hand and click of a finger a republican and movement was born.
While I will pull the lever for Trump I’ll have a very watchful eye on him. It is ok too to be critical of him to ensure he doesn’t blow it. BUT that may be difficult here without blowback because for many here on the 7th day Trump rested....tread lightly

Cruz doesn’t operate that way. He prefers backroom plotting to simple, honest face-to-face.

Will all due respect, seriously, you seemed obsessed with who has the strongest R by their name.
Things have changed.
Cruz doesn’t care about the platform, he only cares about himself. He is just using this as an excuse to get his guys into the convention, hoping that somehow he would get the nomination.
Their envy blinds them 100%. They are worse than real blind people who cannot see, because they choose to be blind to reality.
Cruz and his ship of fools want to control, but “want” and “will get” are two different things.

If free trade and legalization of illegals is on the platform it is not conservative - no matter how many times these free traitors invoke Jesus and social conservative issues to cover up their pro globalization policies.
Not until the final gavel falls will we know who is the nominee. That you would even think otherwise, explains the invalidity of your next statement.
This is just about maintaining conservative principles in the platform.

I know that many of you would vote for Trump even if he ran on Bernie Sanders' platform, but a few of us still care about conservatism.
