My dad was Cherokee. I actually have copies of the roll call with his mom and dad’s family. But his family chose to live like Americans instead of living on tribal lands. I’m not registered as you say I should be, but unlike Warren, I can prove my roots.
And you verified my experience. I was not looking for ‘benefits’ when I called. But I did learn there is a requirement to legitimately call oneself a Cherokee.
