Trump supporter here who has no love for Cruz: Cruz dropped out because he spent his last 6 million against Trump in IN and Trump won all the delegates. More than likely his donors told him to drop out if he didn't win and he obeyed. That's what happened.

Cruz lied. No one was going to vote for him if he was going to drop out after IN so he lied about it. That's all that went down there.
As far as Cruz's father, his story has never been properly investigated but frankly at this point it's a distraction. If anyone created a plot to kill JFK it was LBJ and he's long dead.

since we do not prosecute children for the crimes of their ancestors it does not matter if Ted Cruz’s father actually pulled the trigger of the rifle that fired the shot that killed JFK.

Yeah. I read a book by one of LBJ’s people, and it is his position that LBJ was behind it. He seemed to make a pretty good case. Can’t remember the name of the book.
