Donald Trump or Paul Ryan: Who’s King of the Hill?
The New York Times ^ | 05/07/2016 | Maureen Dowd

Posted on 05/08/2016 10:57:27 AM PDT by MaxistheBest

WASHINGTON — PAUL RYAN and Donald Trump sit down at Republican National Committee headquarters on Capitol Hill to hash out a couple little things, like who is running the party and who is the actual Republican.

“Welcome to Washington, Donald,” Ryan says, shaking hands with the presumptuous nominee. “Reince says you’re far more gracious in private than in public and I sure hope that’s true.”

Trump smirks and pulls out his bottle of industrial-strength sanitizer, squirting a prodigious amount on his hands.

Trying to thaw the chill, the House speaker displays his best ingratiating Irish undertaker air. “Hey,” he says, “thanks for not calling me Lyin’ Ryan.”

“I never use the same adjective twice,” Trump replies coolly. “As you know, I do have killer instincts. That’s how I knocked out 16 losers. So let’s try a few names for kicks. Pious Paul? Pompous Paul? Phony Paul? Back-Stabbing, Blindsiding Paul who hung me out to dry to protect his own presidential ambitions for 2020?”

Ryan blanches, protesting: “No, no, I just want us to come together with a positive vision.”

“I am positive,” Trump says, manspreading as party aides cower in the corners. “I’m positive that what you did was terrible. You’re just giving cover to more traitors, like that reject Lindsey Graham, who I beat like a toy drum. Now Nasty Lindsey’s on TV spewing hate and saying my convention should be held in Area 51. The only number he needs to remember is zero — the number of votes he got.”

It, for certain, is not Ryan. At best, Ryan is a joker.

Nah he’s king of Florida

You're right.

And Florida is pretty flat.

You are correct but left out responsibilities to his constituents, much the same as Ryan does.

Ryan will struggle to hang on to his seat... He’s not the king.

Ryan holds elected office and has Constitutional responsibilities.

Which Constitutional responsibilities he hasn't fulfilled. He's not just a traitor to the Republicans, he's a traitor to the American people in his embrace of the Obama agenda.

Just saw this. Looks like it was taken in Trump's office. If you didn't know it was Ted Cruz, you'd think it was some down and outer. Trump was being humble with the competition. He knew they were all amateurs--in the way the dress and handle themselves. This is embarrassing....

Look at the sleeves and the collar. This guy needs a tailor, and at leat three fittings.

I would strongly suggest that those amateurs read up before they meet up with Trump this week...

Ryan is toast... He’s done. Has anyone seen Nehlen’s Ad?

Paul Ryan needs to be Cantorized before he can give the country away.

EVery day.... I mean every friggin’ day there would be something regarding Obama and you would shake your head....

With Trump, every day, every single day there will be a revelation about the man...

I worked as a locums in Dixon, IL a few ago at their hospital. I was staying at the local Best WEstern.

The whole town was, “Reagan was born here,” and “Reagan lived here,” and “Reagan peed in the pool as a life guard, here,” etc.

The same 1000 fold with Trump.

The man has been consistently an American...

Bull. Ryan is pissing on the Constitution and his oath of office. He's bankrupting the country while advocating continuing importing hundreds of thousands of terrorists.

If I were in Congress, I'd call for having him arrested for dereliction of duty and treason.

Congressional elections are not always how they seem from the national issue perspective. I assume given his position, Ryan has already started flowing a lot of gravy to his district.

Ryan won a congressional district and Hamleted his way to Speaker when boner resigned. He’s a pipsqueak compared to even Pelosi, no matter how many weights he lifts.

I heard Nehlen twice this week, he needs to get more articulate super duper fast. His hearts in the right place for sure but he struggles to communicate. Not good like Bratt was.

What Irony!

Ryan has himself to thank for much of Trump’s success.

If Ryan had kept his word about controlling the budget, rolling back deficit spending, and not funding liberal activities like Planned parenthood, Donald Trump would never have been as successful in the primaries as he has.

I cannot believe that Michael Douglas ever considered Maureen Dowd his “girlfriend.” No way.

Dowd has nice features in her still photos but have you ever seen her talk on television? Nervous and awkward. Hardly feminine or charming.

About 10 million republicans nationwide have voted for Trump. How many votes has Ryan gotten? Slightly More than half of his district.
