Franklin Graham Blasts NYC Mayor de Blasio's Chick-fil-A Boycott Call as Intolerant Bullying

The Rev. Franklin Graham has strongly condemned Mayor Bill de Blasio's call for a boycott of popular fast-food chain Chick-fil-A, which is opening a new location in the New York City borough of Queens, just because its Christian owners believe in the biblical definition of marriage.

"Can you imagine a city where a popular, successful business is singled out and attacked by the mayor who calls for a boycott — all because the business owners let it be known that they operate by Christian principles and believe in God's definition of marriage?" Graham, the president of Samaritan's Purse and Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, wrote on his Facebook page.

"That's exactly what just happened to one of America's most successful businesses. Chick-fil-A has almost 2000 restaurants and sales of more than $6 billion annually. You'd be hard-pressed to find anyone that doesn't like their chicken sandwiches — and their high quality service," Graham adds.

De Blasio is backing openly gay Councilman Danny Dromm who has jurisdiction over the area where the restaurant will be situated and is calling for an all-out boycott of the fast food joint, NY1 News reported.

In response, Chick-fil-A issued a statement: "The Chick-fil-A culture and service tradition in our restaurants is to treat every person with honor, dignity and respect — regardless of their beliefs, race, creed, sexual orientation or gender. We are a restaurant company comprised of 80,000 individuals who represent different backgrounds and beliefs, and we are all focused on offering great food, service and hospitality."

De Blasio also spoke out about his distaste for the chicken chain during a recent unrelated press conference, urging New Yorkers not to support the restaurant. "What the ownership of Chick-fil-A has said is wrong. I'm certainly not going to patronize them and I wouldn't urge any other New Yorker to patronize them."

Graham said he has known the owners of Chick-fil-A, the Cathy family, for many years and has great respect for them. "They just opened a new store in New York and Mayor De Blasio took the gloves off and came after them, calling for a boycott. Doesn't this sound like bullying, intolerance, and discrimination? All because someone won't roll over to the LGBT agenda."

Graham added, "I hope Chick-fil-A has record sales in their New York stores — and tell them how much you appreciate them in the comments below."

“His wife Chirlane was a lesbian before she married him.”

Marrying de Blasio doesn’t mean she’s necessarily straight now.

An elected official using his office to destroy a business is criminal and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

Like that will ever happen.

Attacking de Blasio directly may be less effective than offering to pray for him, “to help his overcome his mountain of personal pain, hurt and resulting hatred, which he must do to find peace and possibly redemption.”

“What the ownership of Chick-fil-A has said is wrong. I’m certainly not going to patronize them and I wouldn’t urge any other New Yorker to patronize them.”

If we recall the events relating to Chick Fil A:

The owner/founder of the company said in an interview with a religious themed magazine that he believes marriage is a man and a woman.

Based on this the homosexual activists targeted the company for destruction.

The homosexual activists ERRONEOUSLY decided that the company is anti-LGBT. The company welcomes and serves all customers.

The company does not discriminate in service or employment based on sexual orientation.

The company observes all laws in operating their business, including all anti discrimination laws.

If Chick Fil A discriminates, then why has there never been a lawsuit against them, by some former or potential employee, claiming they were fired or discriminated agaisnt because they were gay?

The reason is that this alleged discrimination never happened. Yet the left jumped all over Chick Fil A to try to make an example out of them. But their efforts failed.

Why is de Blasio still barking up this tree? The Chick Fil A boycott failed. And heck, whats up with this, considering that the left WON the battle over homosexual marriage. Bill, have you heard what the Supreme Court decreed?? You liberals won!! Homosexual marriage happens in all 50 states now. So why the need to revive an old debate which is over, and pick on a company which will contribute tax revenues to your pathetic administration????? Don’t you want to see ALL local businesses in New York City do well, so you have more tax money for your socialism???

“Why is deBlasio still barking up this tree?”

Because the bulk of the news about him is focused on the Federal and State investigations into his campaign finance operations. Even Democrats who should be allies are chastising him about that. Corruption is a very big issue in New York at this time. He needs to throw up a distraction - any distraction - even if it means costing people jobs.

Why is Big Tird picking a fight with Chick-fil-A? Hasn't this controversy kind of come & gone?

That is all the communists know to do, accuse, blame, and bad mouth not on the basis of reality or reason, but on the basis of a warped and twisted view of their Utopia. What a disgrace!

Why do not liberals see this boycott as being the same kind of thing that they attack Trump for, i.e., trying to keep people out of a particular place because of their religious beliefs?

I work in NYC and I intend to have lunch there next week. I’ll take pictures and post them to Free Republic. I meant to go Friday but it was pouring rain almost all day and I had to eat at Grand Central.

Chick fil A will have long lines this week. The NWO had better not attempt a false flag against those people. It will be so obvious who’s responsible if they do no matter who they try to pin it on.
