Only Conrad Black could imagine that Donald Trump is a centrist, he is an evolving conservative but of what variety remains to be seen. He could choose a more libertarian approach than some expect, but I think many of us are probably watching out for signs of an authoritarian shift. I don’t base this on the wall or the no-Muslim-immigration policies, those are more like delayed but necessary responses to correct past mistakes of other policy sets entirely. But anything that might involve massive oversight of the internet, for example, would be troubling.
I would imagine that in a different time, without those two issues on the agenda, Trump would be a fairly routine laissez-faire capitalist much like Conrad Black.
But centrist? cmon, Conrad, in American political terms somebody like Mitt Romney perhaps is a centrist.
