Former VP DICK CHENEY: I Will Support GOP Nominee
GP ^ | May 6,2016 | Jim Hoft

Former Vice President Dick Cheney will support Donald Trump, he told CNN Friday, an important move as the presumptive Republican nominee is encountering intense resistance from senior members of his own party.

Cheney told CNN Special Correspondent Jamie Gangel that he has always supported the GOP nominee and will do so this year as well.

The announcement makes Cheney one of the few Republican Party elders to announce their support of Trump and comes a day after House Speaker Paul Ryan told CNN he is “just not ready” to back Trump.

Former President George W. Bush, who Cheney served, said this week he would skip this summer’s Republican convention where Trump will be formally nominated. Former President George H.W. Bush and John McCain and Mitt Romney, the GOP’s 2008 and 2012 nominees, also don’t plan to attend the convention.

Cheney’s daughter is running to succeed the retiring U.S. Rep. Cynthia Lummis, R-WY. That explains Dick’s stance.

Awesome. How is it that so many GOPers demanded a pledge from Trump, yet now they show no loyalty at all to the party's nominee. 🐍👿💩🐊

If she is anything like her father, Liz Cheney would be a great congresswoman. Dick Cheney is what I would call a practical, commonsense conservative, very level headed.

I, like many others have done work for the government. Of all the people I would fear showing up at my doorstep at 3 am, even to this day... Dick Cheney would be number one.

I bet the guy is still up on where most if not all of his “operatives” and “functionaries” were located, working and associating with.

The Bushes should be very concerned that Cheney has agreed to support Trump... and should be very very concerned, if he gets “called in” for a consultation with the new ‘nominee apparent’ of the Republican party.

This also indicates to me that it is already known that barring divine intervention... Trump is going to win.

Too bad he couldn’t dissuade W from all that new spending, or persuade him to go harder after Fannie and Freddie.

Trump already designated Elizabeth Warren as “goofy.” He called her goofy Warren today.

That shows exactly what any of them would have done to their voters. Say/promise/pledge to do one thing then ignore it completely. Good riddance to them all
