Good that The Donald is taking this trivial issue off the political table. The minimum wage issue is NOT the hill to die on.

You want me to explain the hand picked portion that you like?! That’s pretty sad.

When asked about raising the minimum wage in the November debate did he say we’d have to leave it as it is? Yes.

When asked now was he open to raising the minimum wage he said he was “open to doing something with it”. Well, what does that mean as far as an answer to the question that was asked? It could mean he wants to leave it as it is. It could mean he wants to get rid of it completely. It could mean he wants to raise it to $20/hr. It could mean ANY of those things. Since he doesn’t explain further, if you guess which one you think he means then there’s a chance you’ll be wrong. Why not just say “Hey, back in November he said we couldn’t touch it, but now he’s saying he’s open to doing something with it. That’s different than what he said before.” I am not saying this is good or bad, I am simply acknowledging that it is different than what he said before.

” what I’m really looking to do is get people great jobs so they make much more money than that, so they make ... much more money than the $15.” What about this statement? What does it have to do with minimum wage? There will always be minimum wage type jobs. Do you think burger flippers will be making $20/hour? If burger flippers are making $20/hour what do you think that means for inflation? Do you understand the inability of every working person making that kind of wage?

No one has to work for $7.25/hr when the government will give them $43,000/year in free food, rent, electricity, healthcare, and spending money.

I think you are missing the point. No one needs to put words in Trump’s mouth. All you have to do is read what he said and not put some meaning into them that may or may not be there.

“”But you’re open to raising the minimum wage?” Blitzer asked.

“I’m open to doing something with it because I don’t like that...”

Is Trump saying he’s going to raise the minimum wage? No. Is he saying he’s going to decrease the minimum wage? No. Is he saying he’s going to leave the minimum wage where it is? No. Is this different than what he said in the November debate? Yes! Is he saying he’s open to doing something with the minimum wage? Yes! The headline is correct per his statement. Open to doing something doesn’t mean it will actually happen, but this is a flip flop from what he said in November.

Why can we not all acknowledge that and move on? The desperation is actually people trying to explain that Trump didn’t really say what he said.
