Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump said Wednesday that he was open to raising the federal minimum wage, breaking with the prevailing view of his party.
Im actually looking at that because I am very different from most Republicans, Mr. Trump said in an interview on CNNs. You have to have something that you can live on.
Mr. Trump has locked up the nomination despite repeatedly breaking with Republican orthodoxy on issues ranging from abortion to trade.
The billionaire businessman said he was studying the minimum wage issue and did not know if the current federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour should be raised to the $15 per hour living wage advocated by Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernard Sanders.

Minimum Wage Cost Jobs to the entry labor force.
Hoping this is lip service
Trump doesn’t do lip service. What... did you think we nominated a Conservative? HA!!
What we need is to do away with the min wage. Let the market decide. If Trump pushes a raise, his millions in savings will take a major hit.
No. Just no. If we would just cut taxes and stay off the backs of businesses nothing else would need to be done.
Sure he does. He doesn’t rule out Any VP when asked.
He knows 15 bucks would kill business as it would kill his own.
If you believe the biggest fiscal issue we face has anything to do with minimum wage, or that “market forces” have any relevance in this fantasyland banker-owned economy, you should probably wake up and take a look around you.
didn’t ask for your opinion. guess you feel the need to give it.
worked for three different investment banks.
Dont need third rate advice.
Maybe every time the Fed want to “Quantitatively Ease”, they could just send checks to directly subsidize the minimum wagers. Soon we’ll all be on the minimum wage and Merica will be Great Again!
In fact, a previous generation of state sovereignty-respecting justices had clarified that the states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate INTRAstate commerce.
State inspection laws, health laws, and laws for regulating the internal commerce of a State, and those which respect turnpike roads, ferries, &c. are not within the power granted to Congress [emphases added]. Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
Trump needs to be promoting a minimum wage amendment to the Constitution on the campaign trail if he wants the feds to be able to eventually regulate minimum wage. And the states can always choose to not ratify such an amendment.
Indiana polls showed Cruz ahead by 8 points 3 weeks ago.
Polls change. Just ask Ted.
I’m still open to a federal minimum wage law that automatically adjusts each year according to the CPI.
Here's my wild guess: Trump is going to rule out any VP that is not at least as attractive and female as Sarah Palin.
"I'm not a conservative, and I convinced all these idiot FReepers that a guy who is pro-abortion, supports Hillary, McConnell, Reid will somehow convert to conservative values.
Post of the day.
And? I don’t agree with you. You can work for as many investment banks as you like, you aren’t running a business and you aren’t creating any value.
I don't see that happening. Trump said he'd oppose turning any federal land over to the States because he didn't think they could be trusted to take care of it. I'd expect he'd feel pretty much the same about them doing something like setting minimum wage.
Christie?
Trump is too busy going after Bernie’s voters to worry about anything else right now (check out some of his tweets from this morning if you don’t believe it), so this makes perfect sense.
