Hamas announces calming of tensions along Gaza border

Hamas announced on Wednesday night that it had reached understandings with Israel on calming the tensions along the Gaza border and stopping the fire towards southern Israel.

One of the leaders of the organization said that in return, Israel had undertaken upon itself not to conduct operations inside Gaza.

Hamas leader Mousa Abu Marzouk, commenting on Facebook on the understandings, said they had been reached with Egyptian mediation.

“What happened on the Gaza border was a Zionist attempt to apply a new reality on the border. This required Hamas to rise up in order to prevent the tools of the IDF from operating,” he wrote, in a post translated by the Hebrew-language news website Walla!

“We spoke with our brothers in Egypt, who are monitoring the latest ceasefire agreement, and they responded quickly,” added Abu Marzouk.

Tensions have risen along the Gaza border over the last two days, as terrorist forces on the Gazan side fired a total of six mortar shells into Israel, with five attacks on Wednesday alone.

Before Hamas announced the calming of tensions, Israel launched air raids on Gaza, with strikes hitting around Gaza's derelict international airport near the city of Rafah and in nearby farming areas.

Nothing like a few targeted strikes to relieve tensions. But why not just light a joint, if you're a no-account Ghaza terrorist layabout with no Jooos! in convenient distance to attack, except the kind that shoots back. All in all, it's a whole lot healthier.

Yes, Hamas was getting hurt badly so they backed down.

They need more time to teach their tunnel diggers and couriers how to swim under water in a flooded tunnel.

Apparently, Trump's landslide win in Indiana yesterday is causing an international re-posturing concerning existing vs. potential US policy overtures. First Mexico, and now Hamas is suddenly cozying up and playing kissyface. It'll be interesting to hear who next joins the love fest.

No doubt yesterday news is causing international panti twisting....

Though I doubt Hamas is playing kissy face because of it....

I’m also sure cozying up to Israel is the very last thing Hamas will do...

They are doing a strategic retreat...

Should read “Hamas announces a HUDNA to secretly regroup and get ready to launch new attacks” HUDNA = fake truce. It took me 3 seconds to find it and G W Bush NEVER did that is why we have had to take and retake Falujah.
