Cruz lost because the majority of voters wanted someone else. If they wanted Cruz, he would have won the most primaries and obtained the most delegates. Cruz himself is the person who cost him the nomination.

In Indiana, a state in which Cruz had good numbers earlier, Trump won with 53% of the vote. In a winner-take-all state.

It would not have mattered if it was Cruz alone against Trump, Trump would still have won. Cruz has been increasingly rejected by a majority of Republican voters.

A year ago I figured Cruz was a smart guy and a lousy campaigner.

Teaming up with Glenn Beck and Snarly Carly made me wonder about the first part.

But he’s a young fellow and will have many more years to improve his game.

I agree with that.

Cruz was supposedly 20 points ahead in the last month or perhaps a little more.

That’s a real cave in.

My take on what happened the last few weeks is that a lot of voters who were vacillating between Cruz and Trump but wanted the GOPe to lose were shaken after Wisconsin and the delegate antics that went on in Colorado and other states. They saw the GOPe was working to help Cruz to get to an open convention. This was not to have Cruz as the nominee but to stop Trump.

Those voters who were vacillating came to realize that if they did not back Trump over Cruz then the GOPe would win. Once the shift started it was rapid.

In many ways I feel sorry for Cruz and many of his ardent supporters. However, Trump, had to be the nominee to defeat the GOPe. O
