Sure looks like Kasich’s goal was to stop Cruz

With the news that Gov. John Kasich (R-OH) will suspend his fruitless campaign for president Wednesday at 5PM it’s worth asking the obvious question: Why now?

Kasich lost every single caucus and primary over the past several months except for his home state of Ohio. Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) has more delegates for the nomination than Kasich and he’s been out of the race for weeks. So why stay in as long as he did just to drop out when the race finally comes down to just two candidates?

Let’s focus on a few key moments of the past several weeks that could lend one to believe that Kasich’s main goal was not to win the nomination (obviously) and not to stop Donald Trump for locking up the nomination. No, it appears Kasich’s main goal was to stop Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) and he succeeded.

No doubt. Kasich dropped out once his RINO mission was done.

Huckabee dropped out when he failed.

And WHO, exactly, is the insider? HA.

Sorry, I don't believe in any pre-planned Grand Design singly or among the three final candidates.

If you do, you don't know too much about the egos of driven men who ply the political major leagues.

It's every man for himself and by himself for various good or bad reasons.....and ego and ambition are the driving forces for different good or bad goals.

Inwardly, the three amigos under discussion undoubtedly loathe each other.

I don't buy at all the posit that any of the three were colluding with each other in any way.

Kasich was making himself available for a betrayal of both Trump and Cruz. Once the chance of a brokered convention went away, so did Kasich.

Best explanation I have heard so far.

Is there any truth to the rumor that Kasich is really Hillary’s twin sister who was given male growth hormones as an infant?

I disagree, too. I don’t remember Kasich campaigning AGAINST the others very often at all; but when he did, it was always against Trump, never Cruz. Never.

If he was in there to stop Cruz, I never detected it. The Cruz people wanted the one-on-one, Trump v Cruz; but so did Trump.

I tend to lean to your way of thinking. Trump just had too much momentum and his win in Indiana put him up 25-4 over Cruz in terms of primaries won to date and 25-1 over Kasich. Other than Maine, a caucus state, Cruz won nothing east of the Mississippi and Kasich only had his home state of Ohio.

At that point, the GOP realized they had no choice but to cast their lot with Trump and make the best of it. So they shut down the money spigot and pulled the plug on Cruz and Kasich.

It was just announced a few minutes ago that Trump will not be self-funding his campaign for the general but will take GOP money.

The Republican Party are now going all-in with Trump.

Some convoluted logic you have!

Kasich voters were if anything Trump voters, not Cruz ones.

Cruz is still a self anointed sorry POS. Cruz voted for TPA and the Corker Bill. That is all I need to know about the Canadian globalist trash.

I have previously stated that I would hold my nose and vote for Trump. If he selects any GOPe stooge (Kasich or Rubio), he will have just lost my support.

Likely he will also lose the support of many a conservative by showing his true colors and the conservatives will have been left out in the cold .... again.

I don’t know if I can support Trump if he picks Kasich. You can tell me Hillary til the cows come home but Kasich is everything I detest, amnesty, NAFTA/TPP, gun control, the list goes on.

Those who rail against Rubio better think hard before they accept Kasich. He went right through the revolving door from Congress to Lehman Bros. for 1/2 mil a year. Not someone we want a heartbeat away from the Presidency.

Trump has no reason to pick Kasich. The only people pushing that idea are dumb Cruzbots.

Trump didn’t need that glutton Kasich to drop out. All he had to do was ignore that POS.

I don’t know. Trump laid off Kasich for most of primary. Could have really hit him on amnesty, Lehman Bros. etc yet barely laid a glove on him.

I tweeted to Trump that I’ll stay home if he picks Kasich. I’ve had enough of being stabbed in the back to do a lifetime.
