Cruz, ending GOP bid, says 'we left it all on the field'

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, abruptly suspending his Republican presidential campaign Tuesday night after another crushing primary defeat to Donald Trump, assured emotional supporters in Indiana that they helped grow an “extraordinary” movement – declaring his team “left it all on the field” in their final push.

ADVERTISEMENT "It appears that path [to victory] has been foreclosed," Cruz told supporters in Indianapolis. "Together, we left it all on the field of Indiana. We gave it everything we've got, but the voters chose another path, and so with a heavy heart but with boundless optimism for the long-term future of our nation, we are suspending our campaign."

The underdog candidate, who all along had vowed to force Trump into a contested convention in July, stunned supporters by dropping out following a big loss in Indiana. Some people in the crowd could be seen crying and hugging each other.

But Cruz indicated he has no plans to fade away.

“I am not suspending our fight for liberty,” Cruz said.

I thought he gave a good speech, except he could have shown a little more class and congratulated Trump.

You won’t win too many people to your way of thinking with that kind of talk.

You mean like with your accusation "Spoken like a true DU’er"?

No, you won't win too many people to your way of thinking with that kind of posting.

Did Cruz congratulate Trump? No!

Would Trump have congratulated Cruz had the shoe been on the other foot? If you listen to what Trump said:

"They fight like hell for six months, and they're saying horrible things, the worst things you can imagine...And then one of them loses, one of them wins. And the one who loses says, 'I just want to congratulate my opponent. He is a brilliant man, he'll be a great governor or president or whatever. I'm not sure you're ever going to see me there. I don't think I'm going to lose, but if I do, I don't think you're ever going to see me again, folks. I think I'll go to Turnberry and play golf or something." - Donald Trump, April 24, 2016

So one can hardly criticize Cruz for something Trump likely wouldn't have done himself.

This is why the Left wins. People are too busy yawping about having Cruz”s scalp instead of focusing on Hildabeast.

I wouldn’t be surprised come November if she manages to snatch the election, and people will be happy so long as they stuck it to the “Cubnadian”. Never mind the Establishment won again by pitting the public against each other.

Cruz dropped out at the right time. Time to let bygones be bygones and get after the Hildabeast, IMO.

You're right.

Cruz needs to do his part to unite the party. It will say a lot about him and his motives if he doesn't.

How do any of these comments of yours pertain to my wondering about Carly Fiorina's method of repayment of her $500,000 loan from the Cruz PAC?

Researchers using FOIA on Rafael Cruz discovered results contradictory to the polished Cruz story fed by the campaign. Having interviewed a few old Cubans who were freedom fighters, Cruz’s past is very troublesome.

Rafael B. Cruz fails to deny that he is the man passing out the pro-communist literature with Oswald.

The Cruz family origins are murky. The Wiki story line doesn’t match his official records. Here are their known records, lots of red flags! Enough for a Communist May Day Parade!

https://www.facebook.com/notes/anna-tomerlin/rafael-edward-ted-cruz-family-timeline/998233746879858

Both Rafaels raise questions that are not easily answered.

A. Who paved Cruz’s way into Princeton & Harvard? Who paid? Without connections it’s very hard to gain acceptance. He did not come from an Ivy prep school. Hispanic foreign Canadian status? Not worth much for a scholarship. He hasn’t whined about paying off student loans. Someone had to help Cruz land SCOTUS clerkships. Has there been an invisible hand behind Ted due to his father’s past?... Poppy Bush?

B. Rafael B. Cruz is an interesting character. Cubans his age, express bitter hatred and anger towards Fidel Castro. They have family and friends that Fidel imprisoned, tortured or murdered. Repression and communism destroyed their lives. Castro seized all their assets - homes, property, businesses, banks, cars, and personal wealth. They lost their freedom to speak freely, object, assemble, travel, etc... they lost everything and they will curse Castro as long forever. To them, Fidel = Satan.
Cubans lucky enough to escape Castro, didn’t return. Hola! Rafael went back. Why would Cruz return with all the negative coming from family and friends back home?

1) Cruz’s passage to America is murky. Hola! It only makes sense for a planted pro-Castro guy. Cruz was sent specifically to Texas to live with 5 Cuban communist exile students. 250,000 of his countrymen-exiles went to Florida. Realize if Cruz had been protesting pro-Castro in Miami, he would have been gator meat. Para-military groups were training in the Florida Everglades with plans to overthrow Castro and liberate Cuba. Omega 66 and other factions would have eliminated Cruz rather quickly. That’s why the commie-exiles were planted in Texas rather than Florida.

2) Aliases. Cruz’s explanation for dropping his family name and choosing someone else’s name similar to his is rather uncommon. Hola!

3) How does a foreign teenage kid who speaks no English get immediate acceptance to a Texas University? Hola! Who pays tuition, room & board? He enters at Key West to Texas twice and finds his way to Texas. Someone made lots of arrangements for 17YO Cruz.

4) Cruz spoke no English, stayed one month, went back to Cuba (documented) and missed the first month of school, and then began his first semester. How does Cruz immediately begin University level courses and graduate in four years with a Math & supposedly a Chem. Eng. degree?

5) What happened to Cruz’s family in Cuba- parents, siblings, cousins? Hola! Did any eventually emigrate?

6) The Cuban community sticks together like glue, thousands fled to Florida. A Cuban teenager alone in Texas is quite the anomaly. Five Cuban exiles at UT, they must have been planted together, right there as comrades, for a reason. Rafael is writing articles to the local paper about the need to PUNISH Cuban refugees and deny them rights?? Hola!

7) Canada. There was lots of oil exploration centered right underneath Cruz’s feet, in Texas. Cruz left Texas for some other reason. (Draft evasion + bigamy +/or evading unpleasantries related to whatever he was ACTUALLY doing in Texas and New Orleans. )

8) Did Rafael resume his seismic-computer career in Texas after he sold his company in Canada? Why didn’t he apply his Math degree and Chemical engineering degree in Texas as referred to in the news article? Nice article at the link about his graduate studies in those fields - all BS.

After reviewing Cruz’s records, his authenticity and character in regards to his citizenship and status is doubtable and so is Ted’s. Cruz maintained Cuban citizenship for nearly 15 years after leaving his Castro and did not obtain US citizenship until Ted entered politics in 2005. Hola! Why did it take him nearly 50 years after emigrating?

Cruz was a Cuban 30+ years, then Canadian 35+ years, then American for 10 years.

He was a bigamist for 30 years having divorced both wives in the same year 1996. (Garza ‘59-’96 and Ted’s Mum ‘67-’96)

This ole dog don’t hunt..... flimflamflimflamflimflamflimflam

But if you want to keep the rancor flowing, I will not cooperate with your effort. Conservatives need to concentrate their fire on the Left, not on each other.

The rancor is there and will be there long past November because Trump is not the kind of man who can heal it. And since he himself has said that party unity is overrated then I don't expect him to put much effort in to trying. So I think the party will remain is split into three groups consisting of people like you, the true Trump believers; people like me, who recognize Trump for who he is but will vote for him in the fall anyway because he's still better than Hillary; and those who loudly proclaim that they will not vote for Trump under any circumstances. As long as group two is larger than group three then Trump should win...if he can overcome his problem with other demographics.

Do Trump supporters ever do anything but hate?

There is a large group of them here who seem to take pride in being so vitriolic. It's unfortunate that substantive discussion has declined to such an extent around here. I hope the freepers who fostered such discussions return.

What I wouldn't give to have a good intellectual knock-down-drag-out with Norm Lenhart and South40 about the wall.

Kasich is a sitting governor who has a job to do that the people of his state hired him for.

He only one his state, Ohio, and has lost 41 other contests.

He has no path to victory. The only person who could possibly have helped him block Trump (which was unlikely in any case) has suspended his campaign and dropped out.

Donald Trump is likely now to get almost 1,400 delegates on the first ballot.

Kasich staying in at this point is not only foolish and pointless, it is an absolute disservice to the people of Ohio.
