For two decades, Sheldon Silver served as one of the most powerful men in New York State. On Tuesday, a judge ordered he serve the next 12 years in prison.

Will he actually serve a day?
NYS courts are anti-semitic?
I don’t know what a “Sheldon Silver” is.
Is it a collectable coin? I assume he’s a bad guy.....:)
It should be LIFE!! For ANY Public Servant CONVICTED of a Criminal Felony while serving in an Office of Public Trust, and 100% CIVIL ASSET FORFEITURE!
I think he is CHuck Schumers boyfriend.
Sheldon Silver wants to keep his money

Now that’s a silver lining of a ruling. They should charge him jail rent.
He was practically a household name in NY for about the last one hundred years.
One of the three most powerful men in the state government. Exercised veto power over everything. Took the taxpayers for incalculable sums of money. Became a multi-millionaire as a result of his state job.
Never heard of him.
Ah, thanks for the info. Sounds like quite the political scumbag.
See post # 5 for the general NY resident sentiment.
IIRC he was one of the key players in ramming the SAFE Act up the butts of the good people of New York
And restitution. Sell all his assets.
Well, he was a scumbag who gravitated toward a political career. Like so many do.
He was incredibly powerful. Essentially untouchable, for decades.
Then, a crack appeared, in the form of one of his protégés, a man named Michael Boxley. Mr. Boxley was accused of rape by several women who held positions as staff members of the NY State Assembly in Albany. One of them couldn't be talked out of pressing charges, and as a result Boxley was convicted of sexual abuse, but received no jail time as a result (he does have to register as a sexual offender).
Those troubles started back in the 2001-2003 time frame.
It's interesting how Silver's trajectory began to arc inexorably downward from that point, though. In spite of his power, he was damaged goods. Eventually, corruption charges were brought against him, and he was convicted also.
All of that should have been done the DAY he was Arrested, just like they would do to you and me.
Glad to hear they’re getting rid of him. Way too late, I guess.
And the first thing that d!ck did when convicted was file for his NY State pension........$90,000 worth per year!!!!!...I hate politicians!!!
