Cruz Explodes: Trump "A Narcissist At A Level I Don't Think This Country Has Ever Seen" (vid)

CRUZ: I'm going to tell you what I really think of Donald Trump. This man is a pathological liar. He doesn't know the difference between truth and lies. He lies practically every word that comes out of his mouth. And in a pattern that I think is straight out of a psychology textbook, his response is to accuse everybody else of lying.

As much as I admire his nationalistic spirit, his optimism and his level of energy, I agree that from a conservative perspective we're taking a chance electing Donald Trump ... but I remain cautiously optimistic.

I console myself with the knowledge that those things which I believe Trump will do, are things that very badly need to be done.

We need to stop immigration. We need to enhance border security. We need to put America's interest first in all our trade negotiations and deals. We need to revive the economy.

We need to keep the economy from collapsing.

even Cruz’s response and phony apology sounds insincere. He was basically justifying the idea they spread the lie, but just that they should have followed up with a retraction.

Okay, first of all, it wasn't a lie. CNN reported it. If anyone lied about it, it was CNN. The Cruz staff was overzealous and ran with it without checking it. Again, not a lie, and yes it is CNN's fault for getting that rumor started.

Cruz's staff should have contacted Carson's staff for verification, but as I said, overzealous and probably not too concerned with being accurate if they thought it would help their cause. There is a term used by a lot of bloggers to describe such a story. "Too good to check."

But it is not a "lie" by Cruz.

The damage is already done and it was an attempt to smear or decive which is another word for lie.

The people attempting to smear and deceive were the ones who insisted on calling it a "lie" even though it clearly was not a lie.

As a matter of fact, they are doing virtually the exact same thing that they are accusing Cruz of doing. They are lying and misleading people because they see it as damaging their opponent.

If they were being honest, they would admit that this bollixed up incident does not rise to the level of a lie, but that recognition does not suit *THEIR* agenda.

Ted, a situation like this calls for a single-sentence denial that you could write on a 3x5” card and read to the media and post on Twitter, end of story. Instead, he goes on a stream-of-consciousness rant of inverse self-loathing. No, Ted. Get yourself a damage-control person and heed their advice. You are going to need it.

What the Cruz camp did in IA was most certainly a lie. The voicemails sent to every caucus location said Carson was “suspending his campaign,” and that he would have a “big announcement” the following week.

A, both were patent lies. B, CNN never reported either one.

What’s more, Jeff Roe had done the EXACT same thing to an opponent in an earlier campaign. Since it worked for him once, why would he not have done it again. Roe is famous for dirty tricks; they are his speciality.

I have seen people repeating over and over again that Ted Cruz is a liar. I've seen Trump refer to him as "Lyin' Ted", but I have not actually seen any real evidence that Cruz has lied about anything.

You're kidding right? Let me give you an example of his latest.....he make a pact/alliance with kasich, both he and kasich released statements about it, a day or two later when it was crashing and burning cruz said no such past/alliance ever occurred.

Saw it - fumy if not so sad. He has declared himself the “good” in the battle between good and evil and has run out of cogent arguments to lecture us with.

he claims Trump is against guns; Trump (and all of his sons, it's a family thing)is Pro 2nd Amendment, period.

On what occasion did Cruz assert that Trump is against guns? A quick check of the internet reveals an ad was created that made such an assertion, but it didn't come from the Cruz Campaign, it came from "Our Principles PAC", which is a Mitt Romney, "Establishmenty" sort of group.

He says Trump is Pro Choice; Trump, who cites the experience a friend of his had regarding almost having an abortion, instead choosing to have the beautiful child, is Pro Life, period.

In 1999 Donald Trump said:

“I’m very pro-choice,” Trump says. “I hate the concept of abortion. I hate it. I hate everything it stands for. I cringe when I listen to people debating the subject. But you still — I just believe in choice.”

Is it not reasonable to argue that the man has been on both sides of the fence, but currently is asserting a Pro-Life Position? Is it unreasonable to assert that his true feelings lie with his position that he had before running for President on the Pro-Life party ticket?

I do not characterize it as a lie for Cruz to point this out, Despite Trump saying he is currently pro-life. For someone from New York, the man is an extreme minority if he advocates a Pro-Life position in the New York social groups to which he belongs. It is the opposite of what the vast majority there believe.

He continuosly says that Trump has no path to 1237, when he rather easliy does.

That's not a lie, that is (was) an unknown and wishful thinking. I think Cruz believed he would do better in states like Indiana, and by his reckoning, he probably thought Donald couldn't make it over the line.

This is all known in Bible parlance as, "Thou Shalt not bear false witness."

I was for Cruz; he lost me with all that.

Well seeing as how you really haven't established any thing he said as a lie, how do you feel about applying that "false witness" principle to accusations against him?

I'm not asking you to support Cruz. At this point it won't make any difference, but I am asking you and everyone else to look at this stuff more honestly.

I've seen people constantly repeating vicious accusations, and I am constantly being surprised at how low people will stoop to try to help their guy.

Why must we do this with people in *OUR* party? It's one thing to do it to the Democrats, (which I still don't condone) but it is quite a different thing to malign and backbite against people who have worked and fought to advance the party.

Why can't we all be honest in our criticisms? Why must we make things up? And then why must others constantly repeat these made up things without bothering to check to see if they are true or not?

True. I don’t even think Trump means to be so duplicitous. I think it is just the way he has run every business in his life.

Look I listened to Cruz on one of those talk shows the other day and it was just ridiculous. He actually said Donald Trump is for Obamacare. I had to just laugh. The guy is sad and pathetic. He needs to GTFO before he becomes the most reviled guy in the GOP. Up next to Cruz I’m starting to have warm feelings for Mitt. :-)

Spin Spin Spin. If you are interested in the truth refer to the timeline before you misrepresent the facts. CNN did not say Carson had a big announcement nor did they say Carson was dropping out. That was Ted's campaign. The Time Line

Your remarks make me sad for you. You are trying so hard. Even in 1999 Trump hated abortion, his position became more and more outspoken on the issue as the years went by. That is very different from waffling or from taking up a position in an election year. If you looked at the videos you were sent you would be able to see & hear Ted Cruz stating that Trump is pro abortion which is not true and has not been true in more than a decade. The story is exactly the same about guns. That speech by Ted Cruz on Trump’s 2nd Amendment position was included in the video summation as well. Cruz lied - not subtle not shading, bold faced lies. That is so disrespectful to the American people let alone to his own soul.

I know hard truths are painful but what you are doing to yourself by refusing to look squarely at the truth is much more damaging in the long run. I was fooled by Ted Cruz as well, donated, bought the campaign gear etc. Now I say shame on me. Cruz has made it clear what he stands for: “the ends justify the means” & “global unity - America with a small “a”.

This man's timeline of what happened and when, appears reasonable to me.

What’s more, Jeff Roe had done the EXACT same thing to an opponent in an earlier campaign. Since it worked for him once, why would he not have done it again.

Even if that's true, it wasn't Cruz doing the dirty trick. Cruz is the one who caught flack for it though. He apologized and tried to make it right as best he could. What more could he have done?

Roe is famous for dirty tricks; they are his speciality.

That appears to be true, but did Cruz know what a creep the guy was when he hired him? I don't know.

Not to be flip, but ignorance is bliss. Cruz knew exactly what level of slimy creepy sewer politics Jeff Roe is famous for. Roe was the campaign manager for Cruz’ senatorial opponent. As such, Roe spread vicious lies about Cruz, many in direct mailings. Cruz acted mortally offended at the time...but he couldn’t wait to hire the guttermeister to play his dirty tricks on Cruz’ behalf. Real Christian, that.

Re your timeline, let’s cut to the Chase. Just give me links to where CNN A, announced that Carson was “suspending his campaign,” and B, said Carson would have a “big announcement,” the following week. Those are the only two items that concern me.
