Trump accuses Cruz's father of helping JFK's assassin
Politico ^ | May 3, 2016 | Nolan D. McCaskill

Donald Trump on Tuesday alleged that Ted Cruz’s father was with John F. Kennedy’s assassin shortly before he murdered the president, parroting a National Enquirer story claiming that Rafael Cruz was pictured with Lee Harvey Oswald handing out pro-Fidel Castro pamphlets in New Orleans in 1963.

A Cruz campaign spokesperson told the Miami Herald, which pointed out numerous flaws in the Enquirer story, that it was “another garbage story in a tabloid full of garbage.”

“His father was with Lee Harvey Oswald prior to Oswald's being — you know, shot. I mean, the whole thing is ridiculous,” Trump said Tuesday during a phone interview with Fox News. “What is this, right prior to his being shot, and nobody even brings it up. They don't even talk about that. That was reported, and nobody talks about it.”

“I mean, what was he doing — what was he doing with Lee Harvey Oswald shortly before the death? Before the shooting?” Trump continued. “It’s horrible.” Trump’s tangent followed his rebuke of Rafael Cruz using the pulpit to court evangelicals for his son. “I implore, I exhort every member of the body of Christ to vote according to the word of God and vote for the candidate that stands on the word of God and on the Constitution of the United States of America,” Rafael Cruz said in a video clip aired by Fox News. “And I am convinced that man is my son, Ted Cruz. The alternative could be the destruction of America.”

He is pictured with Oswald handing out the hands off Cuba leaflets, or someone that looks like him.

This is just going to make him look like an a$$hole and the media will seize on it big time.

Trump IS an a$$hole, living proof that money doesn't buy class (he has none).

That said, I will vote for him if (when) he wins the nomination. And I did like his foreign policy speech. And I do pray that Providence will guide his hand once he is in office.

But there is a lot about him that should concern any rational person. By "rational person," I mean people other than unquestioning Trump fan girls of the sort that, sadly, have so noticeably brought down the quality of discussion and debate here at Free Republic in the last year.

First Trump didn’t say what is posted and second, Cruz didn’t say it is a lie.

The headline left off part to make it tantalizing...should say (if it was him) helping...hand out Cuban pamphlets.

I think they were supposed to be together handing out fliers or pamphlets for a Cuban cause on a street corner.

Interesting if true but proves nothing more.

Many other sources. See post 46

Rafael B. Cruz, third from left, carrying pro-Castro poster at demonstration at University of Texas in January 1959. Other pro-Castro CIA agents in 1958 included David Ferrie and Donald Norton. Norton hid out in Calgary, a CIA safe city for JFK assassination conspirators.

“Cruz dad sure has trashed Trump enough, but PC dictates we smile and take it...right?”

I know. My point was simply that comments like that are taken out of context and used dishonestly to portray Trump badly.

But Trump is doing well. He probably doesn’t need my advice.

“OF COURSE he should. Daddy Cruz has an aggressive role in the campaign, and is a pit bull saying totally outrageous stuff to gin up fear in voters.”

I know. But these comments are taken out of context by the media to portray Trump badly.

Cruz’s lunatic fringe daddy calls on God’s people to vote against Trump. Hey Daddy Cruz, Screw You.

Asked to respond, Trump called it a disgrace. “I think it’s a disgrace that he’s allowed to do it. I think it’s a disgrace that he’s allowed to say it,” he said

So it's disgraceful for Cruz's father to say that about Trump but not for Trump to spread the BS about Cruz's father?

But Trump should not talk about Cruz’s father.

...

Cruz’s father is campaigning for his son (using religious nonsense), so he’s fair game.

The younger person next to Oswald doesn’t appear to resemble the older gentleman pictured.

As someone who doesn’t believe it was any coincidence that John F Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas (home state of Vice President LBJ), all I can add is that I pray Mr. Trump either ramps up his security to the hilt or better yet avoid TEXAS at all costs. I was actually born May 29, 1960 and actually share the same birthday as the late great POTUS JFK who was born May 29, 1917. In school, I somehow became aware of this and loved reading books about J.F. K.; I truly admired him as my first heroic figure.
Seeing that horrible picture of the now-widowed Jackie Kennedy standing beside Johnson in her blood-stained coat/clothing as he took the oath of office was an abomination. I hold a tremendous suspicion about what role Johnson played in Kennedy’s death.
BTW, on another somewhat related incident, I am also suspicious about the timing and circumstances surrounding the death of SCOTUS Justice Antonin Scalia who was found dead in a remote resort in Texas just before that debate in South Carolina. This, as analysts surmised raised the issue of appointing nominees to the high court which ostensibly might have worked to Cruz’ advantage before that primary in voters’ minds.
FOOTNOTE: Even talk show host Michael Savage has delved into how there was no proper investigation into Scalia’s death. No autopsy was performed, apparently at the request of the Scalia family and we will likely never know exactly how he died.
I simply don’t have a very warm place in my heart for Texas based on these observation.

No, that is not what he said. He questioned why Cruz was hanging around with Oswald.

There is evidence that Cruz was in the US at the time.

Does that blog have the primary source documents they refer to in their post? If so, it adds credibility to their story. If not, it subtracts credibility from their story.
