I think Cruz thought he had it in the bag. He was going to draft Trump to Iowa then break out which he did (one way or the other). After that he was convinced Trump would implode and he had Rush, Levin, and some deep pockets in his corner.

He is his own worst enemy. When the public began seeing him on TV and elsewhere it became obvious that he was not what they wanted..........

I think it’s funny, ironic, or something that these guys figured that their audiences would blindly do their bidding. I think they believed, down deep, that we ARE mind-numbed robots who can’t think for ourselves. They may be in shock that we were capable of walking away if they made wrong choices.
