Evenin’, All! Thanks for the trip/tour, Ms. Lauren!
The Bowfin put our submarine war into stark perspective. She’s such a small boat compared to the rest of the vessels that made up the Pacific Fleet during WWII. There is a free-standing conning tower attack center on the grounds of the museum with a working periscope and other accoutrements of the typical submarine of the time. I can’t see how they managed to work in those conditions; and they certainly weren’t fairly represented in most movies of the time.

Good evening, HJ...thanks for the info on the Bowfin. Very interesting times. I’m always amazed at how our military always made things work, whatever it was. And it was always a stepping stone to the next “modern” improvement.
