The University of Michigan's spring commencement was certainly no "safe space" for Michael Bloomberg.
The former mayor of New York City used part of his address to graduates over the weekend in Ann Arbor to blast the idea of "safe spaces" and other coddling of college students as a "terrible mistake" on the part of college administrations.
"The fact that some university boards and administrations now bow to pressure and shield students from these ideas through 'safe spaces,' 'code words' and 'trigger warnings' is, in my view, a terrible mistake," Bloomberg said, drawing a smattering of boos and some applause. Bloomberg remarked that college's "whole purpose" is "to learn how to deal with difficult situations not to run away from them."
"A microaggression is exactly that: micro," he said. "And one of the most dangerous places on a college campus is a safe space, because it creates the false impression that we can isolate ourselves from those who hold different views."
"We can't, and we shouldn't, try not in politics and not in the workplace," he said.
Did Bloomie say something I can support? I’m shocked! I need to run to my safe space now, excuse me.
Oh? But “Big Gulp” safe spaces are fine, right ?
I agree with Bloomberg on these specific remarks and subject matter. When these college children leave the world of academia and enter the real world, they will find out what aggression, micro and macro, in daily life is really about.
This is satire right? Bloomie didn’t actually make some sense did he?
What about making a whole city safe from (a) salt and HFCS overdoses?
Here is a corporation that cries about American while they hire more forein workers every years>
2016 H1B Visa Reports: Top 100 H1B Visa Sponsors: Bloomberg 457 workers.
2015 H1B Visa Reports: Top 100 H1B Visa Sponsors: Bloomberg 380 workers.
2014 H1B Visa Reports: Top 100 H1B Visa Sponsors : Bloomberg 406 workers.

Those that applauded were probably given warnings for being racists.
He touched the lowly, college “snowflakes’” hot button. Poor babies.
Unusual day when I find Bloomberg speaking my mind. I need a beer.
Stunning but well said Mr Mayor!
The little snowflakes want tyranny.
Who did the booing?
Lemme guess...
Oh, never mind. No need to.
This doesn’t surprise me. During my time there in the early 80s, I was one of the few conservatives on campus.
Were the boos coming from the faculty?
NYC is the invention of “the safe space”.
In fact, you can be hit with fines for calling a transvestite by their original sex. And a heavy fine at that.
Lip service. do not DO NOT GIVE THIS CRETIN the slightest amount of support.
He is the enemy and we must disagree with everything he says and does. Stop agreeing with him. He’s a piece of ****
I kind of wish I was college age again. I was very quick, and I was very patient and stealthy. I would have no end of laughs coming up with new and improved hijinks to make these kinds of peoples heads continually explode until they finally act with such idiocy that the rest of the population truly sees how ridiculous these people are and properly mocks and shuns them. Just turn it up another little notch each and every day.
Bloomberg wasn’t that bad as a mayor, actually - the biggest problem was his personal health obsessions, such as smoking and weight loss, that he wanted to impose on New Yorkers in a draconian way.
I thing they should call these 'safe spaces' Diaper Rooms. :D
Most college students wear the t-shirt that reads, “I’m glad I are a college student.”
