I am actually shocked that many of those who fought the hardest and researched Obama’s natural born citizenship status have been willing to give Cruz a pass on this. I thought that it was a matter of principle. I feel very disappointed in many of them. As you say this would have become an issue at the most inopportune time and would most likely have thrown the election to the Democrats.
I think the Cruz campaign is quickly eroding. Fiorina isn’t helping either IMO. Even those delegates he “stole” are apparently going soft on him. Wouldn’t be surprised if Trump sweeps the rest of the primaries.
I know McCarthy was actually right about a lot of the folks he accused, but wasn’t McCarthy so full of his own crusade that he lost sight of where he was actually going?
In that sense, Cruz reminds me of Joe McCarthy. The Ted Cruzade going off the deep end.

The only truly solid Cruz states left are NE and SD, neither of which has many delegates. If he’s lucky he’ll also win MT, but that won’t add much. He’s going to lose WV, NJ, CA, and OR badly. He’s given up on NM and will likely lose WA too after Trump wins big in OR. That’s all the states left after IN. Cruz is done. That’s all there is to it.
