Billionaires are doing quite well. The rest of the people are getting crushed. Are cars, tvs and phones accessible? Yes. Lifestyle and conveniences are better than ever. People are working harder and getting crushed with high costs of healthcare, housing, and wages keep getting squeezed year after year.
Don't forget TAXES and non-healthcare Government regulation. Property/local taxes for me have going up ~200% since 2008; state gas tax has gone up to highest in nation, state income tax has gone up. Some EPA mandate resulted in me having to get a new sewage system, and a requirement to pump out every couple years (never had a problem, ever). FEMA redraws flood map, so now I have to spend thousands of dollars to fight buying flood insurance I don't need (170 year old house, never flooded). The list goes on...
