Migrant children kept from enrolling in school

Candelario Jimon Alonzo came to the U.S. dreaming of becoming something more than what seemed possible along the rutted roads of his hometown in Guatemala's highlands. This was his chance: He could earn a U.S. high school education and eventually become a teacher.

Instead, the 16-year-old spends most days alone in the tumbledown Memphis house where he lives with his uncle, leaving only occasionally to play soccer and pick up what English he can from his friends.

Yes the people that are so concerned about the citizens of other countries need to spend their time and money in those countries making things better.

In this country we need to spend our time and money helping our citizens and our country.

“I asked one of the teachers what the purpose of the program was and she said that it created a job for her.”

In NY, I got a similar response from a lady at the office for the aging. We wanted to move back to take care of my elderly parents when we retired. We couldn’t because the taxes were obscene and not do-able.

I asked the bureaucrat why they didn’t give a tax break to adult children who helped support elderly parents. That way, they could greatly reduce the state employees at these offices. She said the offices exist to make jobs, not really to help the elderly. Go figure.

Candelario Jimon Alonzo came to the U.S. dreaming of becoming something more than what seemed possible along the rutted roads of his hometown in Guatemala's highlands.

This writer doesn't bother to say how he got here, which makes me think he's an illegal. Second, he wants his dream at the expense of the American tax payer. Perhaps he should go home and start fixing his own country rather than coming up here to freeload on the American taxpayer.

"I really wanted to study math and English when I got here," said Jimon, who grew up speaking Spanish and the indigenous language Quiche.
Our local schools got flooded with kids from Oaxaca in southern Mexico. They speak Quiche and other indigenous dialects for which there is no written language. Our district in their wisdom is teaching them to speak Spanish.

Excellent suggestion or better yet, seeing his dream was a mirage, go on back home.

Revoke the citizenship of criminal enablers and the author can share a bus seat with Candelario back to the jungle.

A foreign invader should not be receiving aid and comfort as they are an enemy of freedom and the laws. Sounds coarse but the line must be drawn. We citizens all live or we will all die, even the foreign invaders.

Teach them Spanish and later English? Doesn’t make sense to me.

Why should the legal residents of Shelby country be made to do without services for their children so Illegals with no formal schooling can get caught up?

And what is stopping the LEGAL Mexican and Central American residents from forming schools to help the kids "get caught up"?

Maybe if people weren't giving vast amounts of money to the politicians who advocate for these open borders we wouldn't be in this position in the first place.

Oh wait....

heh.

Jedi.

She said the offices exist to make jobs, not really to help the elderly. Go figure.

That is probably true of close to half of all government jobs.

I’m supposed to feel bad about this?

They’re hypocrites!

Every single American “dreamer” in Guatemala can’t get free education or Guatemalan diplomas! Can they?

Candelario Jimon Alonzo came [snuck illegally] into the U.S. dreaming of...

There.
Fixed it.

I only got this far before realizing this was adulterated brainwashing propaganda masquerading as news...

“It is my dream of having the gringos pay for everything...”

A couple dozen Guatemalans died rooting through a garbage dump a couple days ago.
My sister goes down with a group and tries to convert them to her evangelical beliefs. So we worry more about them than they do about us.

Yeah, it’s a crying shame that they come up here, find out the streets aren’t lined with oro, sink in to a funk, drink copious amounts of liquor, climb into beaters and kill us on our highways.

Speaking as a native-born Okie, as Steinback put it talking about Okies scraping by in the Golden state in the `30s, wanting to go back to Oklahoma so at least they could starve with their own—the least we can do is ship them back.
And they won’t have to ride on the back of a freight train. Dump them in Mexico. We’ve got problems of our own without having to support—educate, medicate, three hots and a cot—10% of central America and Mexico.

My other sister is a teacher in northern CA. She’s overwhelmed by kids 8-10 years old who don’t speak a palabra of English. She’s sick all the time. She needs two assistants to communicate with her students.
A missionary and a teacher busting their humps. So I don’t want the goo goos saying we haven’t tried.

Me? America first. A couple years ago I hired an American roofing crew to re-roof my house, I could have saved money by going with Mexicans. Since then two neighbors hired ... Mexican crews. The movie `Idiocracy’ should be satire, not a documentary. Mike Judge shouldn’t be Orwell.
The National Review is full of beans: Americans want to work, but they don’t live with a dozen of their family and shirt-tail relatives in a two bedroom rental mobile home with their kids hanging from hooks in closets.

Look at what’s happening in Kahleefornia now. These aren’t “migrants” or “immigrants”. We’re being invaded by 3rd world colonists, campesinos who root through garbage, attack Trump supporters on the street, demanding: “Make America Mexico Again!’ and wanting an ever larger slice of your pie.
See. 2nd, I’m like a Chatty Cathy and you pulled my plastic ring/

Build the wall. Round them up and send them home. Make it clear to Mexico we aren’t putting up with it anymore. We’ll be doing them and us a favor.
To hell with the sell-out establishment GOP.
Go Trump. Win win win.
