If they are (technically)unbound then they are free to do that.
” Of the ten North Dakota delegates on the Cruz slate reached by National Review, five express serious reservations about backing the Texas senator on that crucial first ballot...

Looks like they want to elect a president not a preacher passing the plate.
I hope Trump and his aides have the names of all those creeps who are defecating on “We The People” in their districts.
Perhaps they want there to be a home to go home to, after Cleveland. Most delegates are foremost political animals, and do not lightly raze connections within their base of support, not without a payoff to compensate loss.
“Those delegates are vital to Cruzs quest to deny his rival the 1,237 delegates hell need on the first ballot in Cleveland”
Kinda fun to see N(evertrump)RO admit Cruz ain’t runnin to win, but is simply runnin fo’ NeverTrumpin.
Trump won EVERY county in all five states that were contested last week. That’s a historic landslide even if much of it was in friendly territory to him.
I wonder how many other uncommitted, but Cruz-leaning, delegates might have a change of heart if Trump steamrolls most of the rest of the remaining states?
Ted Cruz: “I am the king of voterless states!”
You betcha and more will do the same thing...why? Well two reasons....one, folks like to get behind the winner.
And number 2....if you are the Cruz delegate from Fargo an own the farm implement store and you sell brush chippers and everyone in town knows who you are....well things can happen in smallville America...just saying
Of course this is happening, you will see an avalanche of devoted Cruz delegates defect. Why?
There is not benefit to being a delegate to the losing candidate.
All of the future power lies with the winning nominee.
Can people rationalize their decision after the fact, especially those delegates who were selected earlier in the process when Cruz was closer to victory? Absolutely.
he who laughs last...
” Jim Poolman, a North Dakota delegate who had previously committed to a first-ballot convention vote for Cruz. But I want to be clear, I think the will of the people does mean something, as well, “
Oh really Poolman!, well I think the will of the people should mean EVERYTHING, not just “something”. How dare you overrule the will of the people you worthless scum.
They want to go with a winner.
Cruz is not that winner.
Not on the 1st ballot.
Not on the 2nd ballot, if there is one.
Not on the 70ieth ballot, if there is one.
Besides the fact that EVERYONE is wise to the fact that Lying Ted is a weasel of Epic proportions, I’ll bet he’s polling very badly on Indiana.. Just like every other state where people vote.
Where’s that Carly bump??!
We did NOT have an election here in ND. Those delegates are unbound. Our state representative conducted a straw poll that Trump won. He is a Trump supporter.
If cruz won the delegates for the the first ballot, that should be the their vote. That said, he should stop being a slimeball and leave Mr Trump’s delegates alone.
Donald Trump has really crossed the line this time!
It’s all over for him now!
By not dropping out after NY, or at least after the ACELA primaries, and continuing a hopeless campaign, Cruz has lost any hope of being a well-paid DC lobbyist.
If he continues after Indiana, he will become nothing more than the punch line for standup comedian’s bad jokes.
