9/11 monuments across America are being defaced and neglected

“Never Forget” has been forgotten.

A startling number of 9/11 monuments around the country have been vandalized or fallen into disrepair, including a $2 million Nassau County memorial. In Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, graffiti is scrawled across a section facing the wall of 10 plaques honoring 344 county residents murdered in the terror attacks. The empty fountain had condom wrappers; the base of a fountain displaying two 30-foot-tall aluminum towers is marred by peeling paint, while black marble tiles surrounding it are missing. Others are loose, some streaked with oozing white adhesive.

“A lot of blood and sweat went into this thing,” said Ian Siegel, president of a group that raised $341,000 in donations for the monument.

President George W. Bush joined weeping 9/11 families in 2004 to break ground for the memorial featuring steel beams from the fallen Twin Towers. It opened in 2007 and was the largest such monument before the reflecting pools at Ground Zero opened in 2011.

Patricia Mastandrea, a retiree who frequents the memorial, has noticed workers wiping off graffiti. “It just keeps coming back,” she said, blaming “kids who have no respect for anything.”

Plaques list the names, ages, hometowns, and north or south tower where the residents died, or their badges. They include 78 FDNY Bravest, 10 NYPD officers and five Port Authority cops.

In Green Bay, Wis., a 9/11 monument donated in 2005 by a private group with a salvaged World Trade Center beam has been rotting for years.

The names of the nearly 3,000 people killed in the attacks are etched in granite around the memorial are no longer legible. It turns out the granite, which soon began to crack and erode, was meant for kitchen countertops.

“It’s embarrassing and disrespectful,” said Chad Bronkhorst, head of the city firefighter union.

Trump will restore the memory of 9/11 and give it the proper maintenance. Restore America. Never forget.

Trump for President.

And I wonder where the money that was for the upkeep of such monuments has gone?

That’s OK. In 50 years the Islamic government will have them all torn down anyway.

Far too many Americans think of the events of 9/11/01 as a TV show.

Many now eligible to vote have no remembrance of that day.

Others, mainly politicians, think of that day only as a possible sound bite or photo-op.

In so many ways, we are a sorry lot.

Truther Loons Spray-Paint “Hoax” on 9-11 Memorial

Some loon spray-painted “hoax” on the New Jersey 9-11 Memorial this week.

Was Van Jones in New Jersey?

The vandalism was discovered on Monday morning.
NBC New York reported:

A 9/11 memorial in New Jersey that features a steel beam from the World Trade Center was defaced with the word “hoax” spray-painted in black letters across its base.

The graffiti was discovered Monday morning, according to North Brunswick officials.

“For me, it’s a sense of disbelief that someone could do this,” said Lou Ann Benson, director of the Department of Parks, Recreation & Community Services.

She said that the vandalism was especially hurtful to the community, because so many families in North Brunswick were affected by the terrorist attacks.

The memorial – two stone hands lifting up a red beam from the trade center – were placed at the 9/11 memorial park in 2003. The beam, taken from ground zero, was specifically chosen by representatives of the town for the memorial, which also features the names of those who died.

There are too many 9/11 memorials to sustain for a nation that emphasizes feelings and weeping over actions and accomplishments. Feelings are transient and fickle, while accomplishments produce their own memorials through their betterment of society. A nation that persists in the whimpering memorialization of tragedy and defeat is a nation in decline, heading for ruin. There should be only one 9/11 memorial — three, if the Pentagon and Pennsylvania crash sites are necessary — and it/they should be modest so as to memorialize noteworthy sacrifices without glorifying our humiliating defeat. Snowflake Nation needs to wake up before we die in our sleep.

Jerusalem: “9/11 Living Memorial”

The 9/11 Living Memorial, located in the JNF-KKL Arazim Park. The memorial is situated in a comparatively isolated, mountainous setting just outside Jerusalem that promotes sober thought and introspection.

The focal point of the memorial is a massive sculpture standing nearly 30 feet tall, consisting of a waving American flag shaped into a memorial flame. The bronze flag rises from a base forged from steel recovered from Ground Zero and the names of all 2,980 victims of the attacks are inscribed on the walls of the courtyard surrounding the sculpture. The 9/11 Living Memorial is the only memorial sculpture outside the United States to include the names of the nearly 3,000 victims of the attacks.

Our Muslim Friends will keep reminding us of 9-11, even if we try to forget that awful day. That—until the next horror. Maybe a nuke to blow up an American City? We must wake up America! Trump may do it—unless the powers that be—place Hillary or Biden over us.

Ireland: Donadea 9/11 Memorial

New York City’s police and fire departments have traditionally offered employment and opportunity to Irish immigrants, and the ultimate price paid by so many members of these essential services on September 11th continues to resonate in Ireland. Sean Tallon was one of the 343 firemen who died in the course of his duties that day; Tallon’s father was born in Donadea, County Kildare, Ireland.

The Donadea 9/11 Memorial located in Donadea Forest Park consists of two scale replicas of the ill-fated Twin Towers carved from locally-sourced granite blocks. The blocks are engraved with the names of those emergency service men and women who died in the line of duty on September 11th, 2001. The memorial is surrounded by a copse of newly planted Oaks that are expected to live for at least 100 years.

Thank you for this. I have never seen even a picture and wasn’t aware that it was there. It is beautiful.
