from the look on his face, I don’t think he expected his walk through the monkey cage to be so violent, but he was determined to finish it.
I would bet less than one percent of the protesters were citizens of the US and of Burlingame.

“Virtue signaling” is a manifestation of what Freud called the “super-ego,” i.e., the collective mind of a group that declares what is and is not allowed, what is and is not “proper.” I’ve always been intrigued by teh notion of who or what CREATES the super-ego. Obviously, in our time, the media have a lot to do with it, but even the media seem to be obeying a “voice,” taking their cues from something that isn’t actually human.

Correct! The victims reaction was the story, be that (perceived) comeuppance or (percieved) vigilantism...that’s where those cameras were pointed. The cameras were not pointed at the agressors.
And it’s striking in the video, there are as many photographers as agressive protesters, if not more.
Begs the question...who made who?
