In 2005, our government handed out study guides to all of those studying to become a NATURALIZED CITIZEN. In that booklet, it informed all of those people ( and probably still do ), which clearly states that a NBC MUST BE BORN ON AMERICAN SOIL TO TWO AMERICAN CITIZENS AT THE TIME OF THE CHILD'S BIRTH !
Well .. a “study guide” can say anything. It only matters what the Constitution says.
And .. it says, a child born to an American Citizen is automatically an American Citizen. Since Senator Cruz’s mother was a valid American citizen (working in Canada; who had not surrendered her American citizenship), entitles Senator Cruz to the title of “American Citizen”. The fact that his father was not a citizen, does not matter. The only change I know is that a child born here (to a person of any citizenship) is automatically a citizen (thus “anchor baby” is their label).
