The final rebuke of Donald Trump

How the #NeverTrump crowd can cripple his presidency

Donald Trump has a shot at reconfiguring the electoral map — putting traditionally blue states like Pennsylvania and Wisconsin into play, with his working-class, industrial appeal. He’s going to need the support of the #NeverTrump crowd in the nation’s suburbs.

According to the Atlantic, Mr. Trump could win the Rust belt states — without improving on any other demographic — by holding his opponent to less of the working-class white vote than any Democrat has won since 1988. Yes, that’s a narrow path, but given Mr. Trump’s potential appeal to new and crossover voters — and a general lack of enthusiasm for Mrs. Clinton’s candidacy among Democrats — it’s plausible.

“In Iowa, if all else remained constant, [Trump] could win if he held the Democratic nominee to 47 percent or less of the vote among working-class whites, not much different from the party’s recent low point of 48 percent in 2004,” The Atlantic reported. “In Ohio, Trump could win by pushing the Democrat even slightly below the recent low point of 40 percent that [President Barack] Obama notched in 2012.”

Overall, if Mr. Trump were to capture 65 percent or more of the white vote, he would win the nomination, pollsters say. In 2012 Mitt Romney won 59 percent.

====================================

The first step in turning Mr. Trump’s numbers around is for Party elites to finally coalesce around Mr. Trump, Mr. Olsen said. For example, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s endorsement could move the needle in Wisconsin, and John Kasich’s support could solidify Mr. Trump’s numbers in Pennsylvania and Ohio. So far both men have been solidly anti-Trump.

The #NeverTrump movement may not be strong enough to deny Mr. Trump the nomination, but it is strong enough to deny him the presidency.

If true, that means the #NeverTrump movement is simply a vehicle to elect Shrillary Clinton president.

I'm still in therapy working through the trauma of casting a vote for John McCain and Mitt Romney. All because the GOPe guilted me into having to support their guy who they knew I and millions others couldn't stand, because otherwise it would be MY personal fault that Barack Obama was president. Hold your nose, they said, do it for the country, they scolded.

And now this.

I don’t know if that is allowed by the laws governing the Presidency.

I’ll tell you one thing, after viewing his Q & A session standing in for his dad, I am convinced he would be up to the task.

I can’t remember being more favorably impressed with a young executive.

His grasp of our ideology was unmistakable. It was impressive.

On the plus side, they will destroy the useless Republican party.

The numbers just moved.

Evidently Carson released his delegates and 2 pledged to Donald, making his 1004.

And Donald didn’t have to even do any Cruzadian type moves.

“I can never vote for liberals, progressives or communists. (sic) Trump is clearly a progressive. “

Remember saying that you will never vote for Trump is grounds for zotting.

I would encourage you to look at the ACTUAL positions that Trump is running on. Look at what he actually says - not what the anti-Trump people say he says.

Think about this if Trump:
1. Stops illegal immigration
2. Stops the massive influx of Muslims
3. Reforms the tax code
4. Gets the national concealed carry passed
5. repeals ObamaCare and replaces it with the proposal on his website
6. balances the budget through the elimination of waste
7. Returns education to the local level
8 reforms Veterans Benefits

He would be the greatest conservative president of all time.
Period, no argument, cannot even be challenged.

Every one of the items above are part of Trump’s campaign. Do they sound “Progressive” to you? I think we need more of that type of progressiveness

>Trump is clearly a progressive.

I still remember when Donald J Trump released his immigration plan. Oh how the progressives, GOPe, and illegal aliens howled about it. There was much gnashing of teeth cries of racism! They took away his TV show, his beauty pageant, his clothing line at Macy's, and tried to destroy him. And unlike every other limp wrist-ed so called Conservative or Progressive liar he didn't budge an inch on it despite it costing him millions. He stood tall and fought back. If he's not a Conservative then the word Conservative is meaninglessly.

My first choice is and has been Cruz but ... anyone is better than Hillary. I will not give Hillary my vote by not voting or by doing a write-in.

Please re-think your decision.

Go Trump. Build the fence.

I can never vote for liberals, progressives or communists. That means no democrat will ever get my vote. Trump is clearly a progressive.

You have crossed a line.

The man hosting your comments has been very clear, none of that talk here anymore.

Either accept his invitation to opus out, or Jim Robinson has said he will kick you out.

Remember, the progressive movement started in the republican party.

No. "Progressive" is, and always has been, a synonym for "communist." To my knowledge, the Republican party has never promoted any communist agenda.

Democrats sometimes became Progressives and went back to the Democrat party. Communists would use the Progressive party as a means to conceal their true ideology. While there were Republicans who went to the Progressive party, they were far leftists who probably did not belong to the Republican party.

I do not know how you come to the belief that Donald Trump is either a progressive or a liberal. No one can do what Trump did by being liberal or worse. When liberals get rich, it is usually by some means other than building a business.
