On this election and the unity.

Look the Irish drink, they fight and they write tomes about the experience.

The Scots fight, get drunk and complain about their wounds

Roll on cousins

Trump has 1000 now. Do you really believe Trump doesn’t add to his delegate count at all?

Ray “Boom Boom” Mancini. Have not thought about him in years.

This is just politics, not life or death, though some believe it is to them.

>>> Dont you still have to fight the fight?

I guess that depends on how one defines “the fight”? If the fight is to defeat Trump and win a pyrrhic victory, then he is following is heart. But if the fight is to defeat Hillary, then everything he is doing at this time is counterproductive.

And even if he still fights his fight, we as voters also have to decide what is best for our nation. I for one, would never strive for a contested convention of my own party. And my vote last week reflected that.

It will be a game of Russian roulette with every chamber loaded. If Trump is not the nominee, then the GOP has opted for political suicide and a sure loss in November.

Reread my post, or post 48, where someone who also misread what I wrote got corrected.

If it was still a “contest”, I’d still be pulling for Cruz. But it’s not. Weeks ago, when Cruz could reasonably have hoped that they both arrived at a contested convention with a bunch delegates, then it was reasonable to hope to prevail in a 2nd or 3rd vote, even as the underdog. But now, even if Trump doesn’t make it (which seems increasingly unlikely), it seems assured that the gap between their delegate counts would be so wide that such a strategy would not - and certainly should not - succeed.

So that’s “why”.

Fair enogh but who concedes a contest?

There were 17 who started this race, Only 3 remain and only one has a shot at 1237 on the first ballot. The other 14 conceded because they are rational.

Correct, and thanks af_vet.

I’ll add that I began that sentence about a hypothetical, once possible, delegate count, with the word “likewise”, which referred back to the prior answer I had given on another question, which “likewise” was distinguishing between past and current possibilities by commenting on whether some outcome was possible, to which I answered, “at this point, no”.

So while my hypothetical count, weeks ago may have both been possible and also a reasonable justification for Cruz staying in the race, now neither is true - so “likewise”, “at this point, no”.

That is good to hear about him. Saw a lot of fights over the years from sitting with dad in the late fifties watching the Gillette Friday Night fights to pay fights televised in arenas (before pay TV) like Sugar Ray and Duran I.

Cheers to you!
