it’s as GOOD as they can ever get?The thyroid stores iodine. A nuclear accident would release radioactive iodine. Taking a large dose of iodine would flush out the radioactive iodine before it gave you thyroid cancer. What do you feel would be better than that?

I was (perhaps mistakenly) under the impression that radioactive iodine was only a byproduct of fallout from a nuclear explosion pulling iodine from the earth. I thought a dirty bomb would not create radioactive iodine, but rather just spread nuclear material...?
