My Mexican-born (now U.S. citizen) wife was LIVID when there were pro-immigration protests by Mexicans out in CA at the tail end of Bush’s Presidency, where they were waving the Mexican flag - she said that they could get their “pinche pendejo” asses out of this country if they loved Mexico so much.
I think that she’s not alone - that a LOT of legals have done exactly as those in our less recent past have done, which is to say, adopted American values including being appreciative of what we’ve got here. Trump will do surprisingly well among legal Latin immigrants.
