Man Gets City’s Attention by Throwing ‘Birthday Party’ for Massive Pothole
KFOR ^

Oklahoma drivers know a thing or two about potholes, but one Mississippi man got so fed up with the nuisance that he decided to get the city’s attention in a unique way.

“After 14 calls to 311, I thought it was time to do something different,” said Eddie Prosser.

Prosser says a huge pothole in the middle of his residential street has been a nightmare for drivers.

Prosser told WJTV that the pothole appeared about 16 months ago, which caused two smaller potholes to form about a year ago.

When his calls for help went unanswered, Prosser decided to throw a party.

Balloons and a big card adorned a caution sign on the pothole, reading, “Happy Birthday Pothole” and “I’ve been here for over a year.”

After the ‘party,’ WAPT reports that city crews filled the potholes.

ROFL! That reminds me of the Toronto Dead Raccoon Memorial that grew until the animal control officer finally got around to removing it:

That is hilarious.....LOL

Back when Bernie Sanders was mayor of Burlington pot holes were a huge problem. So much so that someone started planting trees in them.

The “Pothole Bandit” got a lot of press coverage and Bernie got a lot of egg on his face.

Sorry to disappoint you but the infrastructure problems date back to all white administrations as well. Our city fathers have kicked the problem of potholes and an outdated water system down the road until it has reached a point that it must be addressed. In the past it’s always been cheaper and politically safer to put a little asphalt in the holes (that comes out with the first rain) than to go to the people to raise the considerable money necessary to make permanent repairs. Some citizens even tried filling the holes on their own street when they got no response from the city, but they were told that only the city could make such repairs.
Political laziness always transcends something as minor as skin color...

can’t throw mud on public officials without paying a price, he’ll soon be arrested on some cooked up charge and ran through the system just to teach him and everyone else a lesson

A cop I know told me about a certain street that bad guys invariably take when they are being pursued. He said at a certain curve, there’s a bump which above a certain speed always causes a spin out. Pursuit over.

Chicago has some world-class potholes. They also have something equally as dangerous - the elevated manhole covers.

New York has the same problem with damn elevated manhole covers went there in Aug with motorcycle had to dodge them like road kills. Either their 6 inches above or 6 inches below the road never again.

Guy being pursued near us got his comeuppance last week. Cut through a parking lot to get to another street, hit a speed bump going at high rate of speed and veered into a whole line of carts the buggy boy from the grocery store had cued up. Destroyed a bunch of carts and had extensive damage to stolen car. Speed bump +1, car thief 0

They are always filled above grade because they depend on traffic to compress them down with regular driving. If they were even they’d just end up a shallower hole.

Now I am sure some places are better than others at determining just how much to overfill so that they dont end up as speed bumps.

Thanks for the info. I am sure that somewhere someplace there is decent and honest municipal government. I just don’t know where!
