Exactly. The VA is a huge waste of money when private doctors and hospitals already exist. IT would be like a whole new system for Medicare patients. There’s just no need for it.

Give a premium to HMO’s, private doctors, pts and hospitals that will treat our vets. Have MediCare monitor the costs to ensure that they don’t charge $500 for an aspirin.
Keep caring for the vets with amputations and prosthesis at Army/Navy hospitals until they don’t need it.
Close the VA hospitals and lay off everyone in them. The good docs/rns/ and other good people will be able to find jobs quickly.
