I don’t get the logic of Yale’s statement. They either think Calhoun was an alumnus worthy of being honored or they don’t. If they think he’s worthy, then say that — we’re keeping his name on the hall because he is an important figure in American history. But they aren’t saying that. They are saying that they are keeping his name on the hall to confront the legacy of slavery of some BS like that. By that logic, why not name it Hitler Hall? Or John Wayne Gacy Hall?
I still don’t understand why they decided to keep Calhoun’s name? Do you?
