Why register if you are not going to draft? Men and women are different; they are not just physically weaker men. It is time that we stop this nonsense of pretending otherwise. For the good of both society and of the family, we need to again appreciate the unique role of women, as women. Much of the problems in society today are the direct result of driving women away from their proper roles. Men must also unabashedly reclaim their role to provide for and protect women.
In a sane world the only it should have to register for is it's meds at the asylum.

The Constitution does not require that we ignore the proper distinctions between men and women. The attempt to change the Constitution to require this (The Equal Rights Amendment) failed.
What happens if someone has a “sex change” operation around age 18? A male lops his weewee off and calls himself a woman. Does he/she/it have to register for selective service?

There are plenty of young men now who register that know they would never allow themselves to be drafted. For example, religious/concientious objectors are still required to register, but then if/when the draft is reinstated, they would file their objection at that point.
I work with young adults applying for federal financial aid. You can’t get financial aid if you are a male that failed or chose not to register. I always figured it should apply to the young women, as well, even if they weren’t being drafted into combat roles. There is a place and job for everyone in defense of the country.
They would be filing for an exemption from the law. By requiring women to register it would validate the premise that as a class they could be drafted, a premise that I and many others are not willing to concede.

Women should be forming families, having babies at that age. not dressing up like soldiers or being forced into national service cleaning toilets in an ER in Baltimore.
This isn’t the damned USSR. And defending America? We are engaged in endless wars of convenience, we aren’t facing invasion.
If women are all in the army, what the hell is left to fight for anyway? The national parks? the nfl?

Personally I think the Draft should be abolished, no Man or Woman should be forced to fight in a war, and that is almost government slavery, let them volunteer, I look to Robert A Heinlein on this one, he had the right ideal.

I've had to wear a high and tight haircut for 26 years in the Army.
Women in the Army have every advantage of the Army (pay, benefits, promotions) without having to meet ANY of the standards men have to meet.
If they're in the Infantry now, then they should get haircuts and shave.
How can I say this? Well, I came from a time when there was a draft (for males only). You could go to college and maintain a “C” average to keep your 2S student deferment; but if you dropped to a “D”, you were reclassified 1A and subject to induction. The alternatives were to join either the Reserves or National Guard.
Both Reserves and National Guard required that you go to the full service recruit training (boot camp) of 12 weeks. As a member of either Reserves or National Guard, you were not draft eligible because you were already in the military. In the case of Reserves, you could complete your college and then do two year's active duty -- provided you maintained a "C" average, otherwise you'd be sent on active duty. The National Guard required a minimum of 6 months active duty (longer if there was a school involved) and the rest of your enlistment was for a total of six years of mandatory drills (1 weekend a month plus 2 weeks' training a year). Reservists did 2 years active duty, 3 years of mandatory drills, and 1 year of inactive service (no drills) for a total of six years.
