This Is the Donald Trump That Could Win 40 States
Brietbart ^ | 27 Apr 2016 | Virgil

Donald Trump is two for two with teleprompter-ed speeches. That is, he is batting 1000 with remarks that are carefully prepared and delivered. So for his sake, he should keep it up. And if he does, he can win the Republican nomination in July and the general election in November—by carrying 40 states.

Trump’s speech today to the Center for the National Interest (CFTNI), an old-line “realist” think tank in DC, was well received. CFTNI was once known as the Nixon Center, as in, the 37th president, and it still includes on its board such legendary Nixon foreign-policy hands as Henry Kissinger.

Not surprisingly, Trump’s hard-nosed policy ideas were a tonic to grizzled Nixonian realpolitikers. Yet at the same time, his ideas were cheering to a younger generation, weary of the endless wars-for-democracy of the Bush 43 administration, as well as the foolishly sovereignty-smiting policies of the Clinton and Obama administrations.

Indeed, in choosing to speak before CFTNI, as opposed to, say, AEI or Heritage, Trump was sending a clear signal to the neocons who dominated the Bush 43 administration: Your days of costly nation-building are done. (And yet interestingly, Trump was introduced by Zalmay Khalilzad, Bush 43’s ambassador to the United Nations.)

So when Trump puts his mind to it, he can be not only entertaining but also effective. His CFTNI speech, on top of his March 21 speech to the America Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), proves that Trump can operate smoothly at the presidential level.

In his 38-minute address, Trump got right down to it: “It’s time to shake the rust off America’s foreign policy. It’s time to invite new voices and new visions into the fold, something we have to do.”

Hillary starts off with 22 states @ 259 EV's in the bag.

Ah, the first Hillary shill has openly arrived on Free Republic.

Compared to the Hillary shills who were told to support Cruz, that is.

And with metrics from California, no less. What a surprise.

Teleprompters are very necessary at time...and he will use them for certain speeches...THEY ALL DO, IT IS THE WAY IT IS DONE IN TODAY'S WORLD...

But some just can't talk with out one, such as B.Hussein O. he is totally lost with out his ‘telly’ and also is Hillary,Granny Benghazi,Clinton. she is also lost in la la land with out one...

Trump does well speaking from the Heart...He will do just fine...and I feel sure, HE WILL BE #45...

A PRESIDENT WHO WILL PUT OUR NATION, FIRST AND FOREMOST.

CRUZ IS TOAST...

And by the time the Convention rolls around, the American voter will be so tired of hearing the long running speeches of Cruz and Carly, they will not even be important at the Convention...

Trump goes into the Convention with 1237 HE WILL BE THE NOMINEE, NO QUESTIONS ABOUT IT...

Then we might as all go home because Cruz ain’t winning any more.

My friend, no one expected Reagan’s two landslides, either.

Well, maybe the second one. You have several states as blue which are swing, but whatever. People really don’t want Hillary. Many of these states elect republican governors and legislatures. The votes are there if the electorate is dissatisfied and energized, which it is.

“Pessimist. Wrong on several Hillary states.”

Which 0bama states do you see Trump taking from Hillary (besides possibly MI, FL and OH)?

McAullifs move in VA to allow 200,000 felons to vote seals VA.

PA just doesn’t have enough rural folks to off set the big lib vote in Philly and Pittsburgh.

All the states from MD northward have been stuck on stupid since 1992 and have only gotten deeper blue in recent years. Same for all the west coast states.

CO and NV are solidly blue now as well.

Trump just needs to hammer MI, OH and FL. His other states are in the bag. Winning those three gets him to 269 and forces the House to pick. If he can then may pick off NH, IA or maybe CD2 in Maine. He can go to 270.

10 Hillary states: CA, IL, MA, RI, MD, DE, VT, WA, HI, sadly NY. Plus DC, of course..about 150 evs. But Trump will then be in the 380 range.

I don't know of a single state that crooked bitch could win against Trump.

40 states? What's with all this quitter talk.....Trump wins all 57 states with out a doubt.

Btw---Trump doesn't need KaSICK or any other Uniparty lackey to win. There are no so called 'swing' states this election.

“Ah, the first Hillary shill has openly arrived on Free Republic.”

LOL, please.

I am simply living in the real world. The demographics in this country screw the Republicans now. The liberal urban population centers overwhelm the rural areas and make a lot of states solidly blue

Enormously trollish. Welcome to FR, since the beginning of the 2016 campaign - July 2015.

Several of your Queen Hillary’s states will be in play - CO, IA, WI, PA, NH, ME, VA, NJ. More if your Queen gets indicted.

I do not believe that you are taking into account the increased enthusiasm on the Republican side because of Trump and the decreased enthusiasm on the Democrat side because of Clinton. This changes the equation whether Cruz people admit it or not.

Van Jones made an interesting comment last night. He said all Trump has to do is get 3 out of 10 Black folks in the rust belt to vote for him and he’s the President. MI,OH,PA.

The only way Trump loses, is if he pulls the "Be Nice to Hillary" schtick. GHW Bush and Bob Dull never attacked Clinton, John McCain openly praised Obama, and Mittens refused to press his advantage when he had a chance to get elected.

My biggest fear is that he'll come out and start talking about "his good friends" Hillary and Bill Clinton once he gets the nomination.

If he keeps up the drumbeat that Hillary's a old, haggard, diseased, brain-damaged old crone with a syphilitic pedophile for a husband, she'll start making unforced errors (like actually showing up at rallies and speaking), then we'll see the States like California and New York come into play and Trump winning a 45-48 state landslide.

Except Hillary isn't solidly blue.

And neither is the Donald solidly red (as you might have gathered from the screaming around here for the last year).

And Bernie's people are going to either sit on their hands or grudge vote Trump, per their own angry declarations, over Hillary stealing the nomination from them.

And the support behind Trump is already enormous, based on survival-level fears of literally tens of millions of people.

And Trump is going to destroy Hillary in targeted attacks and debates.

And that FBI espionage investigation still hangs over her.

Blue?

"Solidly blue"?

There's no such thing.

“McAullifs move in VA to allow 200,000 felons to vote seals VA.”

That buys a little advantage, but of those 200K, I doubt more than 10% of them will vote. And of that 10%, you’d probably see no more than 80% go for the wicked witch of whatever region she claims to be from since she’s a carpetbagger.

“PA just doesn’t have enough rural folks to off set the big lib vote in Philly and Pittsburgh.”

Philadelphia is a cesspool as is most of Pittsburgh. However, a lot of Pittsburgh’s ‘liberal’ vote are either current or former working class union voters. They are warming up to Trump. PA could be in play.

“All the states from MD northward have been stuck on stupid since 1992 and have only gotten deeper blue in recent years. Same for all the west coast states.”

Very true. Oregon has a libertarian bent to it that might like Trump though. However, Oregon is more than likely too far gone.

“CO and NV are solidly blue now as well.”

No. Not this time. Trending blue, yes, but far from solid.

“Trump just needs to hammer MI, OH and FL. His other states are in the bag.”

I’m sure he will. He has to win two of those three.

“If he can then may pick off NH, IA”

Those two are certainly going to be in play this time around too.

I don’t think Trump is going to win 40 states ... I do think his electoral map is going to look a lot like Bush’s map in 2000 but with Michigan and Pennsylvania going his direction. That’s more than enough to cause a lot of liberals to “flee the nation”, break down in tears, and claim that the whole country is stupid again.

Don’t let 2008 and 2012 skew your views too much ... 2008 was a wave election for the Dems. 2012 saw a drop off in support for Obama, but Romney was far too weak of a candidate to get a lot of conservative voters out to the polls.

Obama lost 4 million votes from 2008 to 2012 ... Romney only managed to pick up 1M more than McCain. The Rs can attract a LOT more voters this time around with a candidate like Trump. Don’t let the media let you think that Hillary is an inevitable candidate with Obama’s charisma ... she is *weak*. I think her ceiling is Obama’s 2012 totals in a best case scenario (adjusted a bit for population of course). That means that Trump only has to not screw up royally to win. He’s bringing back the voters that didn’t want types like Romney or McCain.

that’s a map for a different era

Hillary isn’t going to have much at all by the time this is done, if she’s not removed as nominee altogether before that. We will be in Reagan-Mondale territory.

Clinton splits a big part of the Democrat base for whom she is the step too far, and has almost no appeal to independents. She’ll have to go deeply negative and she’ll be outdone on that score against a Republican with the guts to take her to the house. This is a woman with more skeletons in the closet than Lord of the Rings.

“Hillary will win it easily.”

You’ve been on this site for less than a year and your purpose in life seems to be convincing us that the election is hopeless, even with Trump as the candidate.

People have been zotted for less here.
