Democrats are increasingly optimistic they will take back control of the Senate in November, buoyed by establishment wins in Maryland and the key battleground state of Pennsylvania.

Former government official Katie McGinty easily dispatched Joe Sestak in Pennsylvania’s Senate Democratic primary on Tuesday, benefiting from an infusion of cash from national Democratic groups and last-minute backing from Vice President Joe Biden and President Barack Obama.

Democrats now have the candidate they want to take on GOP Sen. Pat Toomey, one of the most endangered Senate Republicans as Democrats aim to net the four or five seats they will need to retake the Senate majority they lost two years ago. …

One suspects that they do have an excellent chance at “Gang-of-Eight) McCain’s seat.

Nah. Kirkpatrick is warmed over Gabrielle Giffords. The Dems had to move her because Paul Gosar beat her so bad when she represented my area. She’s a gun grabber. She can only represent the res and college towns.

The press plays up Kirkpatrick and downplays Kelli Ward, McCain’s primary opponent. If she doesn’t win, people will probably vote the familiar Hobson’s choice and send the old Rino back rather than get a true believer for six years.

I haven’t voted for McCain since 1992. Doesn’t help much.

We are trying very hard here in AZ. Last time McCain outspent his opponent 16 to 1.

Nothing to worry about Cruz is an accomplished negotiator with the US Senate

Cruz has a 10x greater chance of becoming the Republican nominee.

It won’t matter. Given the Obama precedent, President Trump can rule by executive order if Congress refuses to do what he wants.

I think having Trump at the top of the ticket changes the whole political dynamic. Of course, the GOP will struggle mightily to find a way to lose control of the Senate. The last thing the GOPe wants is control of congress and the White House. It puts them in the terrifying position of actually having to pass real reforms. The Trump way.

Why on Earth would they think that. I am so sick of the media telling me what’s going to happen.

Were you angry that Gosar deserted your district which led to Kirkpatrick winning again?

Curious story - they're lavish with candidate names but nobody seems to be specifically cited as believing it's all true. Just "Democrats" think this and "Democrats" think that. It's marginally better than "We Democrats here at the AP" but not much.

Democrats also sounded gleeful Wednesday about linking Republicans like Toomey to the top of the ticket. That's a strategy Republicans have already made clear they will do everything in their power to combat, by localizing their races and distancing their candidates from the nominee where necessary.

Here's the meat of the argument - "We'll take the Senate back because everybody hates Trump and he'll have no coattails." An establishment argument non pareil. Fact is, "Democrats" are starting to sweat bullets and it's beginning to show.

Considering the thumb-in-the-eye treatment of conservatives by McTurtle, I wouldn’t be surprised in the least.

I don’t see the Dims losing any of their contested seats, and I see them at least picking up Illinois’ sole GOP seat (well, GOP with a very small “r”) from Mark Kirk, who has zero chance of winning re-election.

I don’t see Kathy McGuinty as a spectacular candidate. She looks second-tier to me.

‘Rats could still pick up the Senate. I hope they don’t.

The Washington Post yesterday did a large piece on McGinty doing a gay-pub crawl in Philadelphia. Boy did she kiss a lot of ass that night.

Another page and a half piece on Democrat senate nominees was on the cover and another page, again featuring McGinty.

She sounds like she could be bought off easily by the Left, and probably has been.

She is a possible new Gillibrand, Murphy, Mikulski, and Hillary all rolled up in one body. Now that is scary!
