Cruz to tap Carly Fiorina as running mate

Republican presidential contender Ted Cruz has tapped former technology executive Carly Fiorina as his running mate in the race for the White House.

The Texas senator plans to formally unveil his pick for vice president Wednesday afternoon in Indianapolis.

That's according to a Republican with direct knowledge of the plan, speaking on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized speak before the official announcement.

Cruz is trying to generate momentum for his struggling campaign. GOP front-runner Donald Trump swept primaries in five Northeastern states on Tuesday.

Cruz has been mathematically eliminated from winning enough delegates to clinch the Republican presidential nomination before primary voting ends.

But he's pushing to claim the nomination at a contested national convention in July.

The 61-year-old Fiorina endorsed Cruz earlier in the year after abandoning her own presidential bid. The former chief executive at Hewlett-Packard has never held elected office.

Ted has lost this campaign.

This latest move proves that he has lost his mind too.

Sorry Ted, if you do win the nomination, the Republicans will have self destructed. Carly seems to be a distraction move on your part that only indicates your desperation.

I get that Cruz is trying to change the narrative, but he comes off as so out of touch with reality making this kind of announcement.

When you come in 3rd place (behind Kasich) in 5 of the past 6 contests, cracking 20% in only one of them, it’s best not to announce Veep picks - or you become a punchline.

“Cruz is trying to generate momentum”

He could generate momentum by jumping off a cliff, but it would stop when he hit bottom.

From June 15, 2015:

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2015/jun/15/carly-fiorina-open-legal-status-adult-illegal-immi/

excerpt:

Former Hewlett Packard CEO Carly Fiorina said Monday that adult illegal immigrants should not receive a path to citizenship under an immigration fix, but said she is open to giving their children citizenship.

Mrs. Fiorina, who is running for the GOP presidential nomination, also said she could support giving those who “have come here illegally and stayed here illegally” legal status.

“Why is he doing that when he’s been mathematically eliminated from the race?”

Because he doesn’t know when to quit.

He has been told all of his life that he is a gift from God to the world by his loony dad, and that has been backed up by toadies like Glenn Beck. Likely the GOPe has been pumping him full of air to keep him in the race.

He just doesn’t think it’s possible that he has been defeated, even though everyone with a brain knows it’s over.

If so big mistake.

Nobody here in CA likes Fiorina, if they even know who she even is.

The Truth hurts. Another major miscalculation by the Cruz Campaign of indeed this is true. Reeks of desperation.

Disclaimer: Former Cruzer now leaning Trump.

“She’s from CA. He’s trying to block Trump in CA. It’s desperate and it won’t work.”

Carly is hated in California too!

Cruz is dumber than dirt.

(Thank God)

in 1976, Reagan had promised, if nominated, to name Senator Richard Schweiker of Pennsylvania as his running mate, in a bid to attract liberals and centrists in the party. This move backfired, however, as many conservatives (such as Senator Jesse Helms) were infuriated by Reagan’s choice of the “liberal” Schweiker, while few moderate delegates switched to Reagan. Helms promptly began a movement to draft Conservative Senator James L. Buckley of New York as the presidential nominee.

Hold on now. Two weeks ago we would have had numerous articles by them stating how “brilliant” this move was.

And “second ballot”, “Lincoln in the mid-1800’s”, etc......
