Hummmm.. twist-lock?
I don't know if I'd go THAT far, although it's tempting. I would rather see voting restricted to people with property or investments, or who pay taxes X years out of X, with credits gained from years of taxpaying so that seniors are not shut out after retirement when many are living on fumes.
The expectation of commitment...
Good one!
I would go that far, but I also agree with the balance of your statement; which would eliminate a number of men from voter rolls, as well.
That was the European Christian way brought to this country, to be met head-on by the frontier and harsh conditions. In the 20th century this value re-emerged for most European-descended families. But in the post-WW2 era, prosperity, combined with the expansion of the national superhighway system, the push in the 60s for college education and women's rights, all hell broke loose. Both boys and girls were doing their "courting" far from home, or in cars instead of at the family dinner table with the parents or on the sofa with grandma sitting between them.
To be fair, with the industrial revolution bringing rail travel, telegraphs and telephones and electricity and municipal water during the 30s, the groundwork for family destabilization was laid; the boys going overseas during WW2 helped the respectable families and further destabilized the slatternly or poor. And in the 60s, the apparent pointlessness of fighting an overseas war in Vietnam exacerbated once again the destabilizing forces.
With industrialization, the majority of Americans moved off of farms and rural locations starting in 1939. Women had always worked, and worked hard, within farming and small town occupations; but in this new, mobile and urbanizing environment, many families still needed the women to bring in income; hence, more education for women. This dilemma is presently being eased somewhat by digital media and the ability to work in multiple locations and still care for children; but the immense destabilization of the family and the erosion of the middle class by the marxists are delaying (with intent to destroy) the traditional family model. We are far from having resolved this matter; but as the economy improves with the reestablishment of borders under Presidnet Trump and the ability of loved ones to keep in close touch over distances through social media, one can hope for a resurgence of some stability. Much will depend on a resurgence of traditional religious values.

1Now about what you asked: Is it advisable for a man not to marry?a 2Because sexual immorality is so rampant,b every man should have his own wife, and every woman should have her own husband.and Ephesians 5:22-333A husband should fulfill his obligation to his wife, and a wife should do the same for her husband. 4A wife does not have authority over her own body, but her husband does. In the same way, a husband doesnt have authority over his own body, but his wife does. 5Do not withhold yourselves from each other unless you agree to do so just for a set time, in order to devote yourselves to prayer.c Then you should come together again so that Satan does not tempt you through your lack of self-control. 6But I say this as a concession, not as a command. 7I would like everyone to be unmarried,d like I am. However, each person has a special gift from God, one this and another that.
8I say to those who are unmarried, especially to widows: It is good for them to remain like me. 9However, if they cannot control themselves, they should get married, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion.e 10To married people I give this command (not really I, but the Lord): A wife must not leave her husband. 11But if she does leave him, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. Likewise, a husband must not abandonf his wife.
22Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. 23For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. 24Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing. How many churches would have women leave if a sermon admonished them that they should have sex with their husbands whenever the husband desired sex, NOT just when she was "in the mood", and that she should submit to her husband's leadership?25Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; 26That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, 27That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. 28So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself. 29For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church: 30For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones. 31For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. 32This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church. 33Nevertheless let every one of you in particular so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence her husband.
Women think emotionally and not logically.
To that I say, how many men would follow those proscriptions? How many men even go to church?
