Trump is positioned quite brilliantly in this current scenario. Since Kelly went to Trump Tower two weeks ago she has not used her broadcast the same way. You can be guaranteed something along the lines of “I’ll wait and see what you do” was the parting essence behind the words of Donald Trump toward Ms. Kelly.
Kelly needs Trump far more than Trump needs Kelly. Trump holds the leverage. And now he’s guaranteed at least three more weeks, important weeks, during this election cycle when Megyn Kelly wouldn’t dare attack or disparage him – lest she fear he back out of the interview she needs, and he doesn’t.

After the interview if she goes back into her old ways, Trump gives Fox interviews to anyone but Kelly.
Fox and Kelly have to come to terms now with the idea that the odds are very high Trump will become the president. Kelly now has to make peace with the idea that Trump would have leverage over her for the next 8 years. Kelly needs to heel like a well trained dog.

Yep. But it's not surprising. Trump knows what he's doing here, and he played the waiting game just long enough before making his move.

In Trump’s world, he can get all the cleavage he wants and a lot better than Kelly has to offer. She is at the bottom of the pile in that regard.
This is a very well conceived article. It points out how her attempt to derail Trump was signaled in advance of the first debate, and that the utter transparency of the attempt, as well as its overzealousness, doomed it to fail. She has an incredible lack of subtlety. I also liked the description of her tiresome “too cute by half schtick.”
