In this primary on the GOP side, as it winds down, Cruz has a strategy to use the rules and the system to set himself up for a 2nd or 3rd vote victory if he can force it. He knows this thing inside and out and is doing a masterful job of it.
Trump, on the other hand has his own strategy. 1st, to win 1,237 outright which after tonight he will be well on track to do. Which of course negates Ted’s strategy from the get go. But also to use his bully pulpit (and we can call it that because anytime he needs to, he can get time in front of the press), to make what Ted is doing look like gaming...despite the face that it is all within the rules. Trump uses his strength to sour the public mind against the system as a whole as Ted is using it.
Both men are using their strengths and their relative positions within the campaign (Trump leading with a solid line to the nomination, Ted with no chance for the nomination except at the convention floor) to try and push their own campaigns.
Problem is, in this election year, Trump is going to be so close (if he does not go over) when they get to the convention, that any attempt by Cruz and others to take it from him will end up splitting the party and handing the election to the Dems.
We all better see that, and we all better do everything we can to prevent it.
It's going to look like Wile E. Coyote going splat on the canyon floor after dynamiting himself off the mesa and then getting hit by the anvil he tied himself to.
Precisely. Notice how Trumpsters justify how Trump could keep his billions while going bankrupt four times and defaulting many more, as "playing by the Rules", but it's "cheating" if Cruz does it. I await the incoming, which will simply prove my point.
